I was at the Speedway Sat night having a chat to an old mate whom I used to race against, seems he has been nominated for the Guiness book of records as the Worlds oldest race car driver (amateur), how old you ask, well old Murph was 80 last Xmas, races a wild mazda rotary speedway car in super production class and is still very very quick.

When I was a member of SPARC (Surfer Paradise Automobile Racing Club) in the 80's & 90's we had a wonderful old member in his 80's who used to bring his Bathurst XU1 (genuine) along to all the meets and get into it. I just can't remember his name at the moment but he raced in the original Australian GP and had done a lot of racing including GP's in Europe in the 30's. Unfortunately I heard he has passed away. When I can get over this bout of alzheimer's and remember his name I'll post it up.
