I still believe they should offer a per KM based rego, even as an option.
For me, I work in Melbourne's CBD so i do not drive to work. Over the year i will average around 8000km, at a stretch 9000km. Paying ~$800 a year for rego seems a bit steep when i don't drive that much. Same with my partner's car, she only drives locally and may hit 5000km a year.
