On an AU3 XR8....
What do these do? I ask because my speedo works fine, but my ECU is throwing a code for the VSS......? Will the VSS effect the engine/tune etc in any way if throwing a code?

Maybe not - the VSS is used as an input to the PCM and ABS systems as well as providing data to the cluster via CAN bus.

I use Forscan and it literally says VSS, not sure what the code number was.
Was throwing a cam posi sensor fault too which I replaced and it went away.

So I got under there today.
There was some oil seepage on the sensor, cleaned it all up then pulled the plug apart, wasn't easy as there was some green corrosion on the pins. Cleaned it all out and put it back together full of RP7 and the VSS fault code is gone...

Im getting this code on my s3 xr8 too,im assuming its the speedo sender that causes this?
Might have to give mine a clean too,my speedo also works fine. |

I think I had the same issue with my AU Fairmont turned out to be a faulty ABS module
