Can the top nut be removed and washers installed whilst still in the car? I have just had the tophats replaced and there were no washers used as spacers. This all but eliminated the noise, however I've noticed there were no spacer washers used and was wondering whether I could put these in myself whilst the assembly is still in the car, and hopefully completely eliminate the noise. |

just got my IRS mounts changed today, the people who had done the mounts in the past had put the washer on upside down so as the suspension bloke was telling me it was using the rubber mount correctly.
put washers in aswell as shown in the how to guide on here. with new mounts, new shocks and lowered springs it has completely tranformed my car.

A little OT here but it is related.
I've been having a chat to Pedders about this and unfortunately they have no plans to make an aftermarket version of them. They did say however that there is one on the market, god knows where though.

I wanted to update everyone.... More fun & games guys!!!
I wasn't convinced with all my previous dealings, so I brought the car to Ultratune near my work as I know them there.... to my suprise they told me the whole left side was stuffed!!! Drive shaft, hub & disc etc... I couldn't believe my luck!!!! I parked the car home & i started driving our spare car.... On Saturday I took the car to a drive shaft specialist, they looked at the car & said the drive shaft was OK..... More than likely it was the HUB!!! You can imagine what I was thinkin by now.... I was going nuts!!!! I can't believe how so many so called proffesionals have looked at the car & not one had said the same one thing..... Just want to take your life savings!!!! I now believe if you want something right then you do it yourself!!!! I put the car on stands & pulled the wheel off.... Unbolted rear caliper, removed rear disc, then hand brake shoe.... I ran the car & noticed the rear hub was wobbling out of round!!!! So I found the problem.... Now I'm trying to remove the pack nut so I can remove the hub... All the sockets I've used including tonight aren't long enough to grip & crack the nut.... Damn Will have to chase another socket tommorrow... Any ideas on the best way to remove hub if I'm fitting a new hub & bearing??? |

ill put up pics of before and after of the rear IRS mounts. the rest of the pics ill put in my build thread to keep this thread on topic.
as you can see the top washer is on the wrong way (was the same on both sides) new rear mounts fitted as you can see they are much straighter, and the washer is around the corrects way.
