I am looking for advice on the best way to advertise and sell NSW personalised number plates. If anyone has done this before I would be very keen to hear what process they followed.
Andrew.

Can they even be sold? I was under the impression they could only be passed between family? That was the case for me at least.
Edit - hmm there is a difference between 'personalised' plates and 'custom' plates. This site may be of some help: https://www.numberplates.com.au/plat...-number-plate/

I was under the impression that NSW plates could not be sold.
If you wanted to sell them, they were put on a $10 car which was then sold for whatever the price of the plates were. With NSW plates, of all sizes and designs, now run by Myplates NSW, rules could be a lot different. What do NSW RMS say about this ? |

Ira, it has indeed changed since the situation you describe. You can request a set of plates in any style subject to availability, pay the issue fee plus annual storage and sell them for what you can get, to whomever you choose. All the buyer needs is an RTA customer number and liquidity for fees either to store the plates or put them on a car.
Some plates will further have a higher asking price because they're "never displayed". |
