Reality. Follow the next wave in auto design, from concept to the inaugural run. Perhaps the next Mustang or Thunderbird, this top-secret model promises to revolutionise the industry at its debut at the famous Detroit Auto Show. (PG

All aluminium V10 goodness. I distinctly remember one of the engine dyno guys mentioning the words ' 0 to 60 ' and ' 3.7 seconds ' in the same sentence.

The Ford GT was only ever going to be a limited run. The idea being that if it remained in the product line full time, it would have an adverse effect on re-sale values.
That was the whole point of the Shelby Cobra concept and the sensational looking Shelby GR-1 concept both cars are built over the same platform and drivetrain as the Ford GT, which minimises development time and costs substantially. The Cobra was built first but lacked public appeal, so then the GR-1 was whipped up and blew everyone away. The GR-1 was intended to take over the GT's role as Ford's 'hero' car but with the financial strife Fo.Mo.Co. is in right now, I doubt that will happen.

That Cobra is awesome. More than awesome, just sublime.
Makes you wonder why the yanks are so good at these niche vehicles and cant make a family car to save themselves (literally). |
