Just shows how the numbers never really stacked up, if a currency change can make it unviable.
GM failing badly atm. |

What is embarrassing is that Holden already designed a platform on which a Camaro was actually built and could be offered in factory RHD if they wanted to do it
GM is dead here as I said before. Just a cluster**** for as long as I remember. |

Currency has really dealt Australia a double whammy. A high dollar contributed to the death of local production and now a low dollar is killing off choice and making imports dearer. I suspect this ends the dream of a camaro in supercars as the low volume of the remaining ZL1 supercharged camaro version could not justify a racing program and homologation.

Can't imagine it spells good news for Ram and Silverado either.
250 Camars vs +25,000 gen 6 Mustangs in Australia, Ford is to be commended for providing factory RHD. |

Just getting it axed before GM kill it?
Was that rumour true, or just made up? That Camaro is being axed? |

Would be hard to justify all the development of the Camaro AND the Corvette, I would have thought - especially in the days of 'sports cars are hard to justify' which seems to be muttered by many brands.

It seems like the na one is getting dropped due to lack of sales. Never saw a na Camaro the ones I see always have the charger whine.

$20k more than a Mustang was going to be a very hard sell.

What I meant is, due to Currency exchange reasons, the price will (I think) have to rise... I guess it'll depend on how far out they've hedged their Money... |

Camaro always way overpriced. At under 60 they'd sell pretty well I suspect I'm jealous of USA and car prices......so much better. |

Americans pay sales tax too, but I think you're forgetting LCT which is 33% on cars over $67k on top of GST.
NFI why the tax cut conservatives give no ****s about changes to LCT and payroll tax Anyway, I thought GM were killing the camaro as they have no intentions of making a new coupe/sedan RWD platform after the alpha they made for camaro and caddy. All their eggs are in trucks and the corvette rear engine design. Last edited by oldel; 08-03-2020 at 11:16 PM. |

I may have missed it. What is HSVs business model going forward and are they still going to be called HSV?

HSV were supposed to be renamed GMSV. That is if they don't shut up shop so fast none of us remember that the name change happened in the near future.
Their business model will be only rhd Silverado sales |

I looked into purchasing a Camaro November last year. They were heavily discounted and probably still are. List price drive away was over $90k for the MY19 (some dealers asking nearly $100k) but after discount it was $79k. Didn't go ahead, nice engine but the car just wasn't competitive even at the discounted price. Comparing it to my MY19 Mustang, it's missing quite a bit - no adaptive cruise, AEB, lane-keeping, digital instrument cluster, doesn't even have sat nav. It also misses out on magnetic ride control, exhaust doesn't sound as nice, cabin materials are comparatively cheap, boot is unusable, 3 year warranty vs 5 years with the Ford, etc etc.
The guy I dealt with actually said back in November that they weren't expecting a 2020 model Camaro given how much '19 stock was still out there. I appreciate that HSV did the hard work in bringing them to our market, the quality of the conversion is really outstanding but the product as a whole is simply not competitive. If they were on a level playing field (i.e. no conversion costs), the Camaro would have ideally been priced less than Mustang given the specification on offer. |
