No, these are unrepaired.
We don't care about the cosmetic damage. Its actually pretty minor. These are new cars, but obviously cant be sold as new. More than happy to save like 25% on new price, but as it is new still want to get insurance. BTW, I have watched guys carrying out "paintless" repair. It is amazing what they can achieve, and its a hell of a lot better than bog, but I am still dubious about the long term effects.

A line-light is used by a Paintless Dent Remover to enable them to see minute deviations and depressions not always noticeable to the eye.

Your legal options are:
1. Leave your car 'as is' and insure for Third Party only 2. Have car repaired and insurer full comp. Why I say 'legal' is that you must disclose that the vehicle has pre-existing damage when taking out cover. Even if it is only minor or cosmetic.

You can insure full comp if you disclose existing issues/damage.
I did this after buying a car with a huge gouge across the bonnet. As it turned out, the insurance company came to the party when the car was later keyed and agreed to fixing the bonnet when the door and front guard were repaired. I was surprised they did this, maybe the result of being upfront with them from the get go. Its because of this I continue to use them for all my cars. |

The car seems like a fantastic deal.
Kia have a special at the moment on the 2015 plated stock, basically $19k drive away. This is a "new" car (~50km) and its ~$12k with cosmetic damage. I have checked with RAC insurance and they are pretty easy going. Obviously the "existing" hail damage isn't covered, but even if it got caught in a hail storm "tomorrow" any new hail damage would be covered. The worst damage is to the roof, which is the least likely to get damaged in an accident. Is there any way to check if the glass has been replaced?

Short of goibg through the inside of the car looking for bits of glass, if it has been repaired the right way most likley not but you can never get all the broken glass out

My old car was written off in a hail storm, so there were a LOT of hail damaged cars for sale at the time. Pretty much the discount was the repair cost, so there were no real savings if you wanted to get it repaired.
There were definitely some insurance issues to deal with. As others have said, just the hail damage isn't covered, but if the hail damage is all over and you get more damage on a panel, then it would be paying the repair cost for the hail out of pocket while the insurer paid only for the new damage. Sounds like some have had better luck than that, and quite honestly, i'd consider a hail damaged car if I was just outright buying a cheapie, but it definitely can cause issues, and only you know if it's worth it for you. |

We're looking at a saving of $6~7k. That's a heck of a lot more than paintless repair would cost.
But the reality is they simply can't sell this car as new.

Anyone run into problems with insurance or repairs?
