Default 15 seconds of entertainment

Its not often in CBD with speed camera on every corner you see someone deciding to cut loose from the lights, but yesterday I was given 15 seconds of entertainment by a GT2/3/4 driver. Couldn’t tell which one. White Porsche. I was one of the spectators along with many others on the bread n butter run.
So he guns it with all the noise you expect from a cutting edge German supercar.

Then, just for kicks….a BA/F turbo decides he wants to go along for the ride, right behind him.
A few things cross my mind at the same time.

1. Is the Porsche going to pull away from him? (He didn’t)
2. Are they mates? (Would a guy in a $300,000 car be mixing it with a
guy in a taxi with dinner plate turbo bolted on?) (highly unlikely)
3. How does the driver of the Porsche feel about his $300,000 sports car
not being able to pull away from the taxi? (I don’t think he would be
happy)

I await the next bit of entertainment……..

Looks like you already have all the answers.. except he probably doesn't care if the Falcon is quicker at the lights or not. he's in the better car.
Mk4 Supras have been doing this to supercars for 20 years

That reminded me of a guy in an XT GT back in about 1970. He was in front of me at the lights to turn left. The lights go green, he lights up GT's tires. The guys beside me, lights in an XY, lights up his blue lights. I waved him through, with a smile.

The Porsche would of been too scared to even have a try if an Aurion pulled up next to him.
Especially if it had throw over NOS seat covers and a set of black speedys.

Should have seen my first reply...lol... I edited it because the pedestrians opinion of the real estate prices in the CBD wasn't asked and I wasn't sure if the turbo chasing the Porsche was MINT

well in fact the ford was in appearance, as per the factory, good condition with the standard rims. no visible external modifications. i couldnt see the exhaust properly. the noise and speed of the Porsche suggests, he was on it, big time. the ford however...did not sound stock. it was a sleeper.

Give me the Porche any day of the week, driver experience is 100 times better than any falcon, no matter how fast it is. There is nothing like the sound of a GT3 on song either. I enjoy baiting porches at the lights in my G6ET, I put my window down, take off a little hard and back off and then listen to that glorious sound at high revs as they belt past.

I doubt that old mate in his street registered track weapon cares that in a straight line a xrt keeps up with him. 500hp vs 1000 potential is quite a gap

I have a mate with a gt3 touring. Maybe we aren’t mates because I only have a pursuit

I also have a future ex mate that has a clio 185. Really need to reevaluate that one

I also have some more ex friends that don’t care about cars. Will no longer see them

Is there honestly a better car than a modern Porsche? Decades of meticulous iterative refinement, and it shows. The day an ICE Porsche is no longer produced will be a sad day indeed.

if my memory serves me correctly, before the XRT were cranking up, the WRX was giving plenty of curry to Porsche owners in mid 90's. Porsche were not at the same level as they are now. they started the 90's struggling a little.

in big scheme of things, if i had a $300-500,000 supercar, and a tarted up local taxi $10,000.00-20,000 was right on my tail, or level, after a drag race, i wouldn't be fist pumping at the next lights.

The average enthusiast is well aware of how potent Falcons/Commodores are, particularly when tickled. I wouldn't assume Mr. Porsche would have been too unsettled. Falcon guy probably blew a diff bush trying to keep up with him

GT350 leaves it hands down for sound, plus it's a Ford.

But we aren't talking about the sound of a GT350, we are talking about the sound of Porches.
