Nope, turd party only.
They told me that if I accompany all test drives, there’s no further excess on any claims. Just my $600 or whatever. But if I allow unaccompanied test drives there’s some risk of a claim being sheeted back to me if the at-fault driver shouldn’t have been driving. |

on a recent trip to Adel overnight the rear window/screen on the Carryboy canopy shattered. Neighbours security shows nothing or nobody hit it or near it for 45 minutes efore hand. Apparently one of those cant be explained moments.
My RAA comprehensive insurance covered the replacement $2350. himmels. I also asked bout replacing front windscreen due to stones chips, scratches etc no problem with your insurance Iam told. This gets done this week.

So my Mk 8 Ford Fiesta ST was kinda quick, but anything quick left it standing on acceleration, took till 3rd gear to get really moving (Ford detuned 1st and 2nd gear to deal with power/torque issues).
Anyway, been slowly modifying, put in a Mountune high flow throttle body, then a foam dreamscience filter with stage 1 Dreamscience tune, extended air intakes with intake trumpets for more air, and just recently added a bigger intake tube from airbox to throttle body that only increases airflow over OEM by 10%. Also put in a Collins performance engine stabiliser bush to control the power and torque down and reduce wheel hop. For some reason the last mods of bigger intake tube from airbox to throttle body, and Collins engine stabiliser bush has resulted in that sum of all parts greater than linear benefits of each part added up. Realisation dawned on me when last couple of days out pulling a new Hyundai I30N and then putting a Commodore VF V8 SS in it's place from lights (and boy he was really not happy) - it has dawned on me that the little ST is now actually a rather pacey little machine in terms of acceleration off the bat. And I have received new Mountune charge pipe kit that flows 62% more than OEM, to yet be installed, which I suspect will make the biggest difference to date of all hardware mods. Felt good to suddenly see results in performance from relatively benign better breathing mods. Added bonus got a rear shock absorber that was leaking replaced under Ford Warranty with 1.5 months warranty to go....Growing old disgracefully....and loving it.

Mixed feelings, the number of dedicated gas vehicles on marketplace & carsales at noticably lower prices than their other, regular fuelled counterparts, makes me feel good knowing cheapskates who saved money at one end are losing at the other, and sad because good cars that coulve seen service for much longer are getting scrapped because LPG is getting harder to find.

Also, with the subsidies gone from LPG, the reduced efficiency of LPG, and having to travel further to find someone who not only has it but actually has some to sell, the price benefits of LPG are shrinking.....

Well it was yesterday.
Scored a gig as a volunteer at Whiteman Park Motor Museum here in Perth. Supposedly 2nd biggest car museum in Australia, not sure but think Gosford is the biggest. Biggest crowd puller is Daniel Ricciardos F1 car. We have the biggest display of model cars in the southern hemisphere, 15,000. https://www.motormuseumwa.com.au/?ut...paign=12072021

But .......... Gosford car museum closed years ago. Went there a couple of times. It was huge, filling an old Bunnings building, with cars that may never had known about, including some weird Russian ones. But a dispute with the ATO as to whether it was glorified car yard selling cars (which it did) or a museum (which it was) proved all too much. Could be wrong with this comment, it had the only black Ph3 GTHO made, and it was sold to someone in WA for for a $umpteen-trillion. |

I finally had to accept that I'm getting old(er) a while back when one morning getting out of bed I realised "hey.... I used to be able to do that without all the sound effects"
*that* is something that hurts..... not all the aches and pains, but thinking back to when I was younger and the parents telling me "look after your eyes, dont read in dim light, look after your teeth, brush them twice a day, lift with your legs, not with your back" etc etc etc....... what would you know ya old farts.... next thing I know, I'm in my 40's, and a lot of things are rapidly catching up with me, and yes, it hurts...... But not as much as it hurts having to admit they were right....

Hearing Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana say the reason there are directions on shampoo bottles is because of people like AOC. I lolled hard.

Just watching and listening to a Ford Focus (year unknown to me, lets say 2002 - 2005 at a rough guess) with the biggest big end knock I've heard for a L-O-N-G time. And being grateful that my own cars will never make this noise.
The back story: Went to Woollies for the usual fridge fillers, and while walking back to my car I herd something YOU never want to hear. A Sudanese young lady, maybe 25 or so, reversing out of a car park and the thing was just knocking like, Hey lady, ya not gunna make it home kinda knock. I nearly stopped her to at least check the oil for her. Nah, decided against it. I'm sick of helping people that can't help themselves. You have ears, right? Does this sound normal? Maybe where you came from it does, but over here in the land of sweeping plains, it WRONG. Just goes to show how over engineered our fords are. Well done. ![]()

My old Citroen C5 was losing compression through one of the injector seals I think, but it sounded like a bottom end knock when the bonnet was closed. Used to stop and get a coffee every morning on the way to work, some of the guys sitting out the front of the cafe would give me a funny look. |

Been a productive week at the workplace. Even booked an extra, rush job in for tomorrow. My mate who is the sole owner, seems quite pleased about this.
Got the show plates fitted up, too. ![]() Last edited by Citroënbender; 16-04-2025 at 07:14 PM. |

Another beaut day to go for a casual ride on some of the quiet old roads around here.
Took the single speed 1947 Speedwell "Speedy" out to stretch his and my legs. ![]() End of the road at the Superslab. ![]()

I'm going camping next week.
Will not be speaking to many people. Peace. Simplicity. Isolation.
