Smile MKII 76 Escort Questions

Hey guys, Im new to the site

This is my 76 MKII Escort. Neva owned one before.

What size engine does it have? pistons are new to me :togo:

badges say 1.6, papers say 1.3, goes really gay (guessin 1.3)
receipts came with the car for alot of engine work, including bore & hone, wagget cam, acl pistons set etc
Looked at a mates 79 MKII 2l, and it looks way different. :

-------------------------------------------------------------------

what other engines bolt onto the existing mounts?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry for the newbie questions.

What is the engine code on the plate? Should be either D or E. As far as I'm aware, the Aussie MKII sedan's/coupe's never had the 1.3ltr.

yeah i didnt think the aussie ones came as 1300's either, so i would guess its a 1600, the 1100, 1300 and 1600 are all the same motor i believe, just different capacities.

please correct me if im wrong

You can tell easily between a 1100,1300 and the bigger ones.
If the water pump level with the top of the block it is not a 1600. If the block is about an 1" above the water pump it is a 1600. The 1600 has a longer stroke and hence a higher block.

54Ghia is spot on. The block ht is 1 inch taller in the 1600s.....And the 1300 is about as quick as your average lawn mower. :
