Default Ulcers

I have had some bad ulcers in my mouth for the past week... bottom left of cheek... right inline with my bottom teeth. I recently bit down on it REALLY hard accidentaly (was chewing gum) and this has made the problem more painfull.

What is the best way to chew gum? - lol. jk

What is the best way I can deal with this or help them go away quickly. I have been eating lots of salty foods to try and help (pizza, chips, vegimite), and it still seems bad...

Get some SM33 from the chemist, put it on with a cotton tip, hardest thing is keeping your mouth open while it dries. Usually it's gone in a day if put on correctly

Eating salty foods, will generally make it worse.

I have some of this stuff that makes it go numb, it stings for about 3 seconds, but it works good.

Not sure what it's called though.

Agreed. My record was 13 ulcers in my mouth at one time. SM33..... you will learn to love the pain when applying it too :

Go buy yaself a large pack of salt & vinegar chips, whack on your favourite movie of a night & finish em off in a single sitting.
The S&V will rip the crap out of the ulcer. Should do the trick though, has worked for everyone I've ever said it to. (lmoa - S&V chips for medicinal purposes. strange but true)

Listerine take a mouth full and try to keep it in the gob for about 1min swooshing it around - when it burns spit it out or another good one is diluted dettol antiseptic liquid about a 50:50 mix just DON'T SWALLOW

It doesn't get much more unpleasant than 10 or so ulcers in your mouth at once.. I hope I never, ever have to go through that again.

THAT is the way to go and that is what hospitals/doctors tell you to do.

Saline gargle will also help, but it wont help as quick as Listerine.

Listerine is very powerful stuff (its mainly the alcohol base which makes it work) and will fix quite severe mouth injuries and help them heal quickly. Just do it every morning and night.

DONT do the Dettol thing.

Got a rotten one on tongue. I find stress causes them, especially shift work. Every time I work night shift I get them. I use savacol, only thing that seems to work.

bonjella(spelling) does the trick and DOESNT sting.

a mate of mine got stung by a blue-bottle around his neck and had a really bad reaction and ended up having ulcers throughout his mouth even on his tongue and bridge.....i wouldnt wish it on anyone.

I got them when I was stressed in VCE - tongue, inside of cheek, under tongue, back of throat... I could barely eat. I went to the doctors at least three times but they can only offer so much help with ulcers; lots of liquids, prescribed mouth wash etc. Mine took quite a while to heal.

Go to Coles, or whatever other supermarkets you have in your area.

Get a product called "Savacol" it's better and stronger than listerine and works really really well. I had a really bad couple of ulcers on my gums cos of my impacted wisdom teeth and this thing cleared them up litterally in 24 hours.

It's ultra strong tho, take a 1/2 mouth full and swish/gargle for 60 seconds, nothing will taste right for about 2 days.. even plain old tap water tastes strange.. but it works very well.

that hydrigen paroxide stuff you get from the chemist it costs less than listeren and works heaps better the chimist will tell you the dilution ratio I cant remember. but its only like $4.00 for a huge bottle I just keep it in the vanity and as soon as I get one I swosh with that and its gone in no time

I'd strongly recommend you avoid DIY solutions, such as the dettol idea, dettol is a toxin if ingested, and undiluted will corrode metal and cause skin burns. If you didn't dilute it enough it would probably take off the lining of your mouth. Bonjela is an anaesthetic gel that you can get easily, only downside is it tastes like liquorice, well, for me anyway. Comes in a blue tube from your chemist. It will stop them hurting and apart from that there's not a lot you can do I'm afraid. If they don't go away within a week or so see your GP and make sure there's not something going on with your immune system.

Keep up your Vitamen C intake. May take a couple of days to work but should keep them gone.

Bonjella tastes wicked, I use it on my sons gums when he's teething. It's a very good anaesthethic and has a very nice aniseed/liquorice taste. Being a dutchie... I love the taste.
