Latest "Hot Rod" Magazine

If you like to stand in the newsagents and read the magazines (who doesn't?!), the latest Hot Rod mag has a few interesting articles:

1. The Editorial. Interesting rough analysis of the environmental cost of building new cars and how it is probably more "efficient" to keep older cars running. The pollutants older cars put out and the resources they consume are measurably less than those required to manufacturer a replacement ..
2. Article on some Chevy fanatic (bear with me) who bought up heaps of stuff over many years then died leaving 21 shipping containers full of performance cars and parts; eg. at least two LS6 Chevelles, a dual quad and FI '57 Vette, original '74 Vette with 454, '69 Yenko Camaro, '67 Vette 427 tri-powere, etc, etc, etc. Fasinating to see the new owner soughting through all the stuff. Sad though when you see that the original owner was so paranoid about stuff being stolen that most the cars had their original engines pulled and stored somewhere else, and that the shipping containers were often welded shut and butted end-to-end so that they could not be opened. Can't enjoy all that great stuff sealed in a shipping container??!!

.. and for the die-hard Ford fans:

3. Really neat article on a '65 'Stang fastback being mated to a '03 Stang chassis .. literally. They took the body off the '65 floorpan and put it on an '03!! Very cool!!

A friend of mine always insisted that building new cars created more pollution than keeping older cars on the road,as long as they're maintaned of course.

This mag is always a good read with heaps of good information in it, aswell as plenty of suppliers that you can contact or check out there web sites.

This is something that I have suspected for a long time. I think I better take a look see at the magazine.
