Forget it, I have made inquiries about this car, some salesman with an accent (sounds indian or something) I spoke to, reckons they paid a lot for it on trade-in so they wont drop their price. Its been for sale for near on 6+ months now.

Lads,

An upgrade of the brakes may not be money well spent. If the current brakes on the car stop the vehicle in normal road/driving conditions then there is no need to fork out $2000-$3000 extra for an upgrade. Big brake upgrades only have an advantage if you are doing alot of track work, driving at high speed, and/or towing trailers etc... Big brakes primarily prevent brake fadout.

Id rather spend that king of money on CAI, KN filter, CAPA tune, twin 2 1/2 inch exhaust etc.... AU2 XR8 220Kw owner

Thats incorrect. All AU V8's including non-XR had the GT40P heads.

220/250kw motors had GT40P's modified by YellaTerra, with bigger valves and some (very) mild porting.

I believe the AUII TE/TS50's came with alloy GT40Y heads.

Another positive comment re the Series 3 220's, they really are an excellent package, I would only buy a manual but each to their own.

As far as Fuel economy goes you are coming from a BA XR8, will be a bit better with the Windsor but I guess you don't buy a V8 if fuel costs are a major concern.

There are some good buys out there so happy hunting.

I bought the best maintained car i could find in an XR8 a month and a half ago. Couldn't be happier.

AU3 220 with unichip, extractors, exhaust, CAI, rebel skirts and rear bar, AWC XR50 front and Herrod spoiler. Looks awesome. Great economy I get similar to better economy than my BA fairmont 6! 550 out of a tank general and upto 700km freeway. Really couldn't be happier woith my buy and the previous owners dedication to his car. 180rwkw too! Thanks Maurice
I was going to drop my 347 into it which would have made it a realy strong girl (230-250rwkw) but i couldn't do away with v8 grunt and the economy of a 6. Of course if i give her a hard time my fuel economy drops but... duh!

There's a few out there good luck

Series II XR8's with build dates of February 2000 to about June 2001 had 200kw motor. Series II XR8's from about June 2001 to November 2001 had a 220kw motor.

And the AUI TS50 also had alloy heads. But they weren't GT40Y, they were SVO Y303. Also, not all AUII TE/TS50's had alloy heads. Only the early (August 2000 to April 2001) builds had them.

I keep forgetting about the AUI TS50 :P

GT40Y and the SVO Y303 are the same head.
