Default Black Keyboards

I know its a current fad, to have the black or black/silver keyboard at the moment.
But they're not for everyone, like myself. I cant see what im typing half the time.
I spend more time correcting typo's that typing the post...

So ive been walking into shops looking for one.
Do you think i can find one thats not black or black/silver.... NO :

All i want is a white or beige keyboard, is that too much to ask ???

Harvey's, Domaine, Dick Smith, Officeworks, Big W, Target...

Only option left is to go to a smaller retailer and buy for an arm or a leg :

I love the black keyboard, except for one thing... The dust!! It needs vacuuming so often. Ah well, the old beige keyboard NEVER got maintenance, so I guess its good. :P

Check out a cheap computer shop like MSY technology, They should have a white one for around $7-10. In Sydney there in Auburn and next to UTS in the city

check out ebay, there should be plenty of old white ones there.
stereo equipment is the same. seems about a 10 year cycle to go from silver finish back to black finish again.

In Melbourne we have computer swap meets weekly in various areas. I'm sure they would have something similar up that way, surely? But ebay is the next best option. Mate if I still had my beige one you could have it.

The only issue I have with my black keyboard is that the letters get grubby quick.
The only two that are still white are Q and Z.

But mine came with the computer as well, so it's all a matching set.

I have to agree about the letters looking grubby.. but the worse part for anyone going to use my keyboard that can't touch type and not really sure where the letters are is that some of the letters are missing..
And before anyone has a funny comment to make, the keyboard is a few years old :thebirds:

Andrew, go to North Rocks Westfied on a Sundays. They have computer trade fairs and pick up anything for cheap.

What do the current Microsoft ones look like? Mine has dark grey along the top and bottom, but the keys are beige with black writing

Sorry to disappoint you both.

But... I've looked, at various stores over the last 2 weeks.

Im not too keen on the wireless stuff, more expensive and uses batteries.
Im quite happy with the PS/2 system.

Im after the Microsoft Keyboard/Mouse Combo pack as seen below.

I dont doubt that they cant get them, i just dont think they are stocked
So finding it in white/beige is just getting to be an issue.

I've seen a couple of desktop keyboards which are backlit. I'm waiting for a laptop with backlit keys though. I use my lappy alot at night... in the dark and although I touch type, I'd still like to be able to see the keys easily if I choose to look.

2ndOwner the keyboard/mouse your looking for harveys should still sell them..they are basically OEM items now....seen a few similar in the good guys here
if not then theres the on screen keyboard version...shouldnt be to hard to see

if you dont mind waiting ask them to order it, otherwise buy online...
www.umart.com.au, www.gamedudes.com.au, www.techbuy.com.au
they are the only ones ive bought from and are very good but shop around someone else has a list and i think i made a thread that had 20-30 online stores and a few comparison shops

hope that helps
