Mars would be the only remotely inhabitable planet on that list too...

Venus will pressure-cook you, but in acid.

Jupiter and Saturn are not only gaseous, but emit heat :S No clues indicate a solid surface. Some of their moons are rather interesting though... And that bigass red dot on Jupiter? No, that doesn't signify its Hindu orientation, it is in fact a massive storm that's been raging for ~400 years now.

Uranus and Neptune are gaseous, no clues indicate a solid surface. Neptune has the worst recorded storms ever (keep Jupiter's 400 year storm in mind here).

Pluto is an enigma, as is Charon, its "twin" (there is debate whether this is a massive moon, or that its a twin planet, albeit the runt of the two).

I think us poor humans would find the gravity of those a little hard to handle.

I got an email yesterday about the end of this month where you will be able to see Mars for the clearest in our lifetime, which will pop up as the brightest object apart from the moon, and in the same area. I think the 27th August is the clearest night to view it, and will be as big as the moon to the eye

Apart from the planets in our solar system, every other body in those images is a star, so we could probably rule out inhabiting them indefinitely. Antares is one hell of a star though

The supergiant VV Cephei A is the largest star diameter wise, if it was put in place of the sun in our solar system, it would extend out to the orbit of Saturn, which is scarily large. The brightest star is the Pitsol Star which is around 10 million times brighter than the Sun, which would make for nasty sunburn, I'm picturing something along the lines of the playground scenes in Terminator 2.

Umm you do realise that for one, Mars is twice the diameter of the Moon (roughly). Two, for it to be as big as the Moon visibly, it would have to sit about 800,000 kays away from Earth. Since Mars is some 50 million + kays from us, I find that hard to believe.

Yes, when you take into account our sun is a small star in the Carina Signus arm of the Milkyway Galaxy, and that there is 100 Billion(est) stars in our galaxy alone.Then there are 100 MIllion Galaxies(est) in the known universe.Our little planet does seem pretty insignificant..

I heard that last year at this time it was even on the news and I'm pretty sure it was in the papers. When that time came I didnt see anything and you were apparantly supposed to see it getting brighter the days leading up to it. It may have been a miss-calculation last year meaning its actually this year that we will see it, hopefully as I'm sure it would look awesome.
