Default Insurance problems (home)

everyone know about cyclone larry...

anyways since then still nothing has been done btw my mum is keeping me informed..

ok so today they fixed the external wall really really poxy job, did the fence and the quote thing said they had to do 20m on one side 10m on the other they didnt, they also used crap fence may as well used plastic, reused the stuffed fence posts, the fence could be pushed over by a 2 year old or the wind...
window is boarded up and almost rotting cause of the non stop rain since the cyclone (and that my room too), garage door still hasnt come, and someone has vandalised our lights and garage wall... ive had to call the insurance company more than once to do something, builder was told to call us on our mobile at a certain time to tell us if he could come around or not that takes 2 mins, he never did, ive had to drive from townsville to innisfail more than once, take off some time from uni, take few days of work..

its costed me more then the **** insurance policy itself... i have to go back this weekend most likely and sort the *** **** out probably with something threatening

also the inspector who came around and listed everything managed to forget to list some stuff like roof not bolted down, gutters gone, damaged external wall F*** incompetent if you ask me.

also mum has to go to hospital cause dads been in there since the cyclone, mum is also a phillipino and i think CGU think they can try rip her off.

we have been promised all this sort of crap for at least months, ive spent too much when i shouldnt have to, im stressing out cause mum doesnt no what to do, im getting even more stressed having to hear that they didnt even do what they were spose to.... i think if you see me on the news ill be handcuffed and locked away for a long time....

btw CGU is the insurance we have been with them for too long, never a day late in paying the policies actually too early, never had a claim till now but this is different

anyone know where i stand or what i can do before i go there EXTREMELY angry and do something i will regret?

Hey sport the best thing I can reccomend is diarise it all and send it to Cosgrove..plus cc to your govt reps both state and federal and somehow get the community who no doubt are also getting screwed to join in.

Good Luck.

1st thing to do is to get the policy holders (mum and dad) to give you permission to deal with it on thier behalf, (actually call CGU and MAKE them put notes on the claim and policy) , that will get you through the privacy problems. Next thing to do is talk to the client manager or claims manager and calmy tell them your greviences. If at this point they still do nothing much ask to be transfered to thier internal dispute resolution service, explain the situation to them (they will look at it with fresh eyes and have the power to overturn incorrect descions). Give them due course ie 5 days, then if still no resolution go to the insurance ombudsmun service, they are an entirly independant body that can investigate the claim and handling of it and force the insurance company to live up to thier end of the contract.

DO it in this order....do not skip a step because you will just get referred back to the previous step until it's taken.

I agree 100%. Keep in mind that the insurer have paid someone to fix the damage, so if you have been ripped, so have they. Also remember you are one of 1000's who have been effected and they'd be trying to give all clients service.

yeah thanks guys i already have the power to take care of everything
i dont think its a matter of oh sorry we accidently put your quote down as $50 000 and you only got a $2 fence thats how EVERYTHING is being done there... i did work for SES, also did some labour work for local builders and they were told to put a higher price on their quotes otherwise they wont get looked at..... the whole damn thing i s corrupt

anyways i believe with insurance i shouldnt have to do anything they should do their job the first time and do it properly! someone is going to feel my size 12 foot dont care who.

i can understand that everyones houses are damaged or destroyed iv seen the majority... but i can not understand how the inspector who came around wrote down a list of everything that was broken/damaged and needed repairing and how he left off the list to the builder things like roof not screwed down, gutters need replacing, thing under window is smashed, side wall extensively damaged, and recently when we went back home the hot water system stuffed itself..... and we told them and builder still didnt no about it..
someone is definently gonna feel pain at the end of this ive missed out on too much, spent my on damn money, spent too much of my time and i dont even get compensation...
