I looked into this a while for a conversion into an f truck. Basically gave up on it and went back to an older series motor without the BEM. The BEM sends a frequency to the engine management computer every time a start signal is requested. Without this signal, the ecu won't fire.It is not an easy signal to replicate, so you really need to have the BEM in the system, and have all of its appropriate inputs satisfied, as well as all the inputs for the ceu or you will just have error codes all over the place. When you look at the diagrams for the BEM, it takes signals from all over the car and unless you are going to add all of these to the conversion i.e door locks and switches, dash etc etc I reckon you'll have problems. You also need to have the remote key system functioning as this is what talks to the BEM. For me it just got too hard for what I wanted. Failing that an aftermarket computer would be alot easier.
I've still got lots of info on it so if your still interested yell out. There may also be 'black boxes' out there can be substituted for the BEM but I couldn't find one Cheers |
