It is a nice ute indeed, didnt actually do much for me but you could definitely see the work that had gone into it.

Funny thing was it had no airbag (steering wheel replaced) and no power windows due to being one of the first XR8 Utes off the line when AU production began. Got shipped off to Ford US as a "look at what we can do" model, then went to Coddington from there before coming back here.

That is absolutely GROSS. Those colours simply dont go together, looks like a fashion design from the 70's gone horribly wrong

If you look at the pic of the instrument cluster it shows all 4 doors are open.I always thought utes only had 2 doors though.OOPS.

Angry Coddington Ute

This ute has been displayed at The Melb Hot Rod Show also was at Car Show at Exhibition Centre with the rice burner brigade. You need to see it in person to appreciate the effort that went into it. Don't forget this car carries the name of one of the most respected rodders of all time. And for this to be done with him in mind standard had to be plenty bloody high .It is always the case when someting looks out of the ordinary or people don't understand something the first thing to do is go on the defencive . Either colour ,this has been done wrong or the likes. Have a good look then pass reasonable judgement . Put one together for sombody of noted personality and see how you go. Nearly five years ago this ute attracted a lot of interest only good thing now i suppose is that it is still here in OZ representing the BLUE OVAL. : :

Thats the same with all au utes. It's a small thing but every person who has looked at my dash has noticed it which is kinda annoying.

yep, thats wheelboyz' ute

it was them, not ford, that had the ute shipped over to coddingtons for the treatment.
i believe all the major coddington wheel suppliers had a coddington built vehicle

I like it because its different, who wants to have a vehicle that looks the same as everyone else? it would attract attention good or bad where ever it went, great promotional car for a business.

Not a fan of the series one AU XR's and not a fan of the colours but its a bloody nice ute very clean and well done. Quality. Its a pitty they didn't clean up the engine a bit more. You know crome and paint it up. Looks a tad dirty none the less very clean and tidy.

I reckon it looks great. Iirc the wheels were one offs at the time, and still pretty rare today. If I had a spare $20,000 laying around I would jump at it.

i actually know the guys very well who had that ute built.
it was an early development mule that ford 'loaned' to them for the boyd project, hence the manual windows and no air bag, and it never had any ford issued body ID.
believe it or not, it was supposed to be returned to ford after all of its promo stuff was done with, and 'disposed of' (read: crushed), simply because it was a development car that didnt meet certain ADRs.
needless to say, when ford found out that it had been sold AND was now on the road via and engineers report and loop holes in the rego rules (that apparently say something about customised cars with engineers reports beating ADR's), they werent too impressed.

I've seen it and I don't like it. Sorry, I can see there's been some effort put into it, but it's yucky.
