Very confronting, a good message to those who go on about speed laws and how they are good drivers and know what they're doing.

OMG, those adds were insane...... Good message.... See now these adds have had a greater effect on me than stupid speed cameras. I know I know... speed cameras save lives but those adds stop you and make you think. These sets of adds should be shown to all people getting there license.

I've never been one to speed (yeah i have crept over every now and then) but after watching them it makes you be more aware of whats going on around you.

I thought number 2 was a very good (for want of a better word) ad, it should have stopped when the car went sideways into the pole, or atleast not shown the dead face/blood streaming down it. People don't need to see that. I thought it was very good how the injuries were named, and it was shown that you're not just endangering yourself (the driver) but your other passengers, possibly even more so. The ad was very touching.

In practically all of those style of adds that I have ever seen, the driver makes some kind of serious driving mistake, which would have had just as bad of a consequence if performed at the legal speed limit. One thing that also annoys me, is that they portray that the only way to avoid an accident is to brake and stop in time, when often there are better alternatives. Take the Vicroads wipe off 5 add, with two cars driving next to each other (http://www.tacsafety.com.au/upload/slo-mo.mpg). The slow car hits the truck at a modest speed, whereas the faster car hits the truck pretty hard, but all that the driver had to do to avoid the collision was to move left by about half a metre. Even if the only way to avoid an accident is to stop, locking up the brake like many of the cars do in these types of adds is another serious driving error.

At the end of the adds why do they always say "speed kills" or some kid of similar catch phrase. Why don't they instead of say, "don't swere for wildlife", "don't wrench on the steering wheel" or "don't stare at what you are trying avoid"?

In my opinion I believe these kind of adds are actually part of the road toll problem. For years we have been told that speed kills, which is suggesting that if your not speeding you will be safe, regardless of the manner of your driving. These adds and the large focus on speed are dumbing down drivers. No longer do we have to drive to the conditions, because the government tells us how fast to drive. If the road is busy, they lower the speed limit, if it is windy, they lower the speed limit. When the driver actually has to make a choice of how fast to negotiate a tighter than normal corner, there is now a good chance that they will make a mistake as they are no longer used to making such choices. A classic example I see of not speeding in a dangerous manor, happens on busy roads such as the Geelong road. It's raining and the cars are all sitting within a cars length of each other, all doing 100km/h and none of them will get a speeding fine. As if it's going to make a difference whether they are doing 100 or 105 km/h, they are still ripe for a horrendous accident which could be prevented if some attention was paid to tailgating instead of solely speeding.

We now see graphic anti-smoking laws, i think the same level of advertising must be shown of the dangers of speeding.

I for one dont want to see anything like that,if I watch tv its for entertainment,I dont need "educating" thank you very much.
Same goes for the smoking adds.
