Default Question about bonnet bulges

Ok well I was looking through AWC's site dreaming of things to do to the au as usaul and one thing I've always wanted to know is the story with the carbon fibre. What is so good about the kevlar inner skin like what advantages does it offer over fibreglass. And how much weight is saved (roughly) from fiberglass to carbon fibre and is it paintable of do people just use it as a **** factor?

Thanks
Phil

That basically the only thing that is stopping me from getting one when/if i get 400hp I'm basically ganna throw whatever the hell i want on my car. So then when people call me a ricer Me and everyone who knows me will laugh at them and they will remained gobsmacked when they are shut down at the drag strip/ drift track. Ok I don't know why I rambled all that just dreaming again I guess lol.

Hmmmm, funny comment that so I guess I'm ricer no.2 (Bucky is no.1) even though the bulge is needed to clear the Edelbrock manifold, at the end of the day it's peoples choice.

edelbrock manifold fits under a standard bonnet.

Would you trust a bullet proof vest made from fibreglass though?

Me either.

When it comes to a tack on bulge that is only for the appearance, the fibreglass is just fine for me

You missed the meaning of my post. I am the No1 Rice Meister! Performance is ongoing, to add to what has been done!, followed by a bulge! Tongue in cheek, I have a life, remove your stick :

Cheers,
Mike

It's not about any single product that causes the RICE application / Name, the same product can be be used in a way that is tough and good to the eye, while in another way it could be used as / or seen as rice and this alone allows for two people to have differing views.

Take a short Mini skirt for example, if paris hilton wore it it probably would look ok, now if i wore the same skirt, That would be Rice N Ugly So it's a good thing I'm in the Anti Rice Camp

The fibreglass bonnets weigh a fair bit less then the standard ones, so it would make it goe faster. Only by a millionth of a second or so, but still faster.

i think you miss my point the comment by MNM96
Anything that doesn't make it go faster, is for **** value! was what I took issue with i agree there are good and bad body mods but MNM96 seems to think that we should all only spend money on performance and not looks or we are W.A.N.K.E.R.S we are all individual but we all think the AU is Gr8 so lets all get on with out efforts to make our ride unique without insulting others for their efforts

Fair call, I am also a little in the no bling camp, at the end of the day even if you had the best car there is some one to knock it and i am sure people wont like what i do to my car but then again i don't care what they think.
