From the vaults of www.eurofordclub.com, and in my interest of sharing amazing aircraft, I present:
Sultan of Brunei's personal Airbus A340 Modified in Waco, Texas, by Raytheon, at a modification cost of $US 150 million! Yes, the aircraft has sinks of solid gold, although one is made of Lalique Crystal! |

Wow.. Better than most homes, I could surely live there the rest of my life. Learn to fly and go anywhere you like.. Looks like something of Star Trek, or even better.

What an absolute waste of money, he obvesiouly has more money than sense, I agree he can enjoy his wealth and good on him but there is so much wasted money spent by people like him that could be better spent elsewhere.

Meanwhile a great many of his subjects live in abject poverty, for a country so small he could quite easily fix that with the gold plated dome off his palace.
Personally I don't have to much time for ppl like that and I have met one of his sons...during the Cannonball Run,not one word of english or so he had us believe.

Let's not turn this into a political thread.. Many countries could spend their money elsewhere without having to name anyway.

U think thats awesome, check this out: !!!
ABOUT REAL ESTATE: Bill Gates' spacious mansion beats president's living quarters May 13, 2005 Dear David: Is the White House the largest private residence in the United States? Dear Reader: No, not by a long shot. The 132-room residential portion of the White House is dwarfed by many other U.S. homes, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates' 66,000-square-foot lakefront compound in Medina, Wash. (replete with a 60-foot-long pool with underwater sound system and reception hall that can accommodate 150 for a formal dinner), and the 18,000-square-foot, 25-acre waterfront estate in New York's Hamptons that pharmaceutical magnate Stewart Rahr purchased for about $45 million. Yet even the properties owned by Gates and Rahr seem modest when compared with the home of the Sultan of Brunei. His palace has a staggering 2.15 million square feet of floor space -- roughly the same as the entire Empire State Building -- and 1,788 rooms. The sultan's property is known as the Istana Nurul Iman Palace. Guinness World Records lists it as the largest residence in the world. |

Well I love a bit of luxury and there's something so inpiring about great aesthetics but I honestly don't think all that gold would make me any happier than if it was all sterling silver. You can make a place look great without covering it in gold. Seems to me its solely for the purpose of showing off how rich he is. And really, how sad is that.
