Driving along the Pacific Highway in Queensland one night minding my own business when i found myself caught up between 2 cars racing.
I was in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway when i noticed a car approching very fast from behind and another car in the right hand lane approching me from behind as well. I saw the car behind me indicate for about 2 flashs and edover into the right hand lane and sped past me little did i know he had clipped the car in the right hand trying to fit between me the and other car. So there for the car in the right hand lane plowed into my drivers door at 100kmls. As you can see by the pics at the moment of damage i wasnt much better off. |

Bad luck on that.
You know Alanis Morrisette's song "Ironic"...it should have been called "stiff s***" and unfortunately, that is exactly what has happened to you...you can be doing nothing wrong and everything right and in the end, you're the one to get stuffed. I hope that they catch the perpetrators someday and hopefully you'll never have to be on the giving or receiving end of anything such as this every again! Glad to hear that you weren't injured (you didn't say much about that aspect)...that's the most important thing. |

If the left lane is clear, use it first-always. Avoid keeping middle.
Then, summary roadside execution for the idiots:-) Example, see diagram. http://www.td.gov.hk/road_safety/roa...ays_/index.htm

Damn...
Unfortunately the Pacific Highway is notorious for idiots doing that, and yet won't take them to Willowbank because they're afraid they'll break something.

$12k seems pretty expensive i know there was probably more than panel damage but sheesh dont they squeeze the cash out of you/insurance companies. Just doesn't seem like $12k worth of damage thats all....glad to hear you are OK.

Such contractors like to spend little. Ways and means to fight this. I deal with NSW in this regard only. Your SA federal example, 'direction to VIC' - however I had input into its 'lane start treatment' (2 to three) to mirror NSW F3 practice. I must check up on this btw, if the blokes done this to old Victorian method however, execution will prevail. Here in NSW, it is on the cards that we'll END the rightmost lane, when dropping three to two, to mirror German practice (L to R in Germany naturally). The idea being to leave the left lane unbroken, to further encourage use of it, rather than the middle-lane. To drop a 'right' motorway lane, I am supporting a 700 metre taper/drop (>130km/h), rather than a low speed environment (110 - 130km/h) suggested 500 metre. (Ref to some AUSROADS crap). Ways and means, early days yet. Don't mean to take this too far OT.
