Default Ute Torneau-cover rivets

I want to replace the rivets that are used to hold a soft tornaeu-cover on. Do I just drill out the rivet, or is there something special to it. I have spoken to Ford Spare Parts and they have plugs for $3 each, is there anywhere else you can get them?

Any suggestions

Make sure you hold the outer plastic part of the tonneau hook so it does not spin while you are drilling out the centre, or it can scuff the paint.

That depends if you want to replace the "cotton reels" with the plugs and just have none or just replace some Reels that are just loose . if you are taking the reels off it can be a nightmare , we had one in the family done from the dealership .the problem is when there fitted at the factory they leave impressions in the paint work and look like you have small dents down the side of your ute , which then need filling and painting to look any good ,more so on a darker colours, you mite get away with it if your ute is white,
