Default Falcons, Windsor or Cleveland?

Hi guys, this maybe a dumb question but I'll ask it anyway...... Falcon V8's, are they always Cleveland or Windsor or a mix over the years?
Thanks Dave

Yes but Ba onwards use boss motors.

Made the switch to Cleveland with the XY's and then back to windsor with the EB's

Fuel injected 5 litre is a Windsor (EB to AUIII). Pre Cleveland 302 also a Windsor.

BA uses a new Modular design similar to the 4.6 Litre Mustang engine. Actually it is based on the 5.4 Litre F-Series truck engine. Or in the case of the 5.4L 3V, is the F-Series truck engine

XR - 289W
XT - 302W
XW - 302W/351W (P1 HO had windsor, P2 HO had clevo)
XY - 302W/351C
XA thru XE - 302C/351C
EB thru AU - 5.0 (EFi 302W)
BA to Now - 5.4 3V/5.4 Boss

Did the XY have 302 Clevo's too? My uncle had an XYGS with a windsor, but I can't remember if they came with 302C as well...

Thanks, I'm looking to buy all the injection gear, manifold, ecu and harnes to fit to my 302 65 Mustang that I'm twin turboing. I'm hoping I can reflash the ecu as well. Or do I get another ecu?

If you are going to be fitting twin turbo and EFi I wouldn't bother with a factory ECU, as they aren't well supported here, and you have to deal with things like smartlock etc...

I would go for a megasquirt system personally.

As for the manifolds, the best of the factory stuff was the "explorer" intake found only on EL2 XR8's and all AU V8's... the earlier "HO" manifolds were woeful in terms of flow.

Aftermarket manifolds are much better again... things like edelbrock or trickflow flow quite nicely.

The Windsor was replaced mid XW with a Clevo built in Aussie. The Clevo was made in Dearborn in two different blocks a thin wall casting and a thick wall casting used in F series trucks in the Us & Canada.

All the Aussie blocks were the thick wall arrangement and heavier, easy to make a 4 bolt main.
When Ford reintroduced the V8's in the late XD's and XE's they imported blocks from the Ford factory in Mexico. Dearborn had stopped making Clevos by then.
The Mexican block could be recognized here in those days as it was painted black, however it was of the US type thin wall casting.
Another handy thing about the thick wall castings were you could safely bore 'em out further without splitting the webs. You could also bore out the cylinders and re-sleeve 'em.
I know a lot of blokes who bored them out and re-sleeved them and they used to leave a thickness of the original sleeve in the bottom, and then pressed the new sleeve down till you hit bottom - the head then stopped the sleeve from coming out the top.
This set-up worked quite well. A lot of Aussie thick wall blocks were shipped back to the US after Dearborn closed production and were prized by the street strip builders over there......

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

The first two production months in 1972 of the XA 302's were also windsors. The change to 302 clevelands came in April
