Default opinions on the new lancer?

i know its no ford, and its a small sedan with no guts, but the technology for it's class is simply amazing. the new shape is still growing on me but im amazed at the technology. the upgraded navigator & media pack is amazing. 8 speaker stereo & sub, GPS & dvd player.. not to mention the bluetooth phone speaker as standard.. hmmm quite interesting really.

now the prissy lancer gli boys won't need to put aftermarket media and kit on it - as it's already got it!

I think it'll kill its class. HEAPS of tech in this car and loads of kit standard. Fully decked VRX on the road will be around $34k-$35k so not too bad considering the amount of kit you get. Plus, it looks fantastic!

I really like the EVO ... and this time I think Mitsu will have it all over the Subi's.
The new WRX/STi is awful.

I dont mind the new Lancer. At least it doesnt look as girly as the previous models. Looks a lot tougher than the new Impreza.

I have seen a few of these on the road and a couple of WRX's but wagons only? The Mitsubishi craps all over the Subi's in styling and features.
I know what i would be buying if i was forced to.

All of the new Subaru RX's etc are going to be that sports hatch design. WRX and STi too. There were rumours of a sedan, but apparently it isn't true and this is all we'll get.

Well that's just the thing. I think a lot of people would, but the pproblem is there IS no WRX sedan anymore, only a sports hatch - and frankly to me, it looks too plain, not what a WRX should look like.

its okay but i reckon the grill kills it, the whole forward angled grill only works on the dodge charger (new four door one)

otherwise yeah its okay but i'd prefer the previous evo's

Its the car that Mitsubishi needed to have.

Personally, I think wait a little while for the 2.4L to work it's way into the car.

And yes, it has a very impressive equipment list, and a turning circle of 10m which is better than a similiar sized RWD (Is250/325i)

only thing i don't like is the clear tail lights. other than that i think it looks tough.
Now i know why you never see the rear end in the 'love that car' ad on tv

Yeah the EVO looks horn, and so does most of the range compared to the others.

Is it in the same class as the mondeo?

This time around though EVO > WRX for sure. The new Impreza is worse than the bug-eye; it actually makes the bug-eye look really nice.

If anything that rear end looks like an Alfa 159, which has to be one of the nicest sedan designs IMO.

The one with clear tail lights is actually a pic of the Concept X. The real EVO X has standard looking tail lights.

I'm digging the front, the rear looks very Alfa. I'd probably consider an EVO for my next car, at the very least I'd take one for a test drive (if Mitsu was still around at the time...)

Pretty sure Mondeo is a touch bigger, hence in a different class. Mondeo is actually Falcon size where Lancer is more Mazda 3 sedan size.

Considering a Focus XR5 starts at $36,500 it's not in the same category. VRX Lancer retails at $28,990, but by the time it gets on the road with all the options it's close to $35k. XR5 would be over $40k by the time you option leather and all the good bits and get it on the road.

They look quite nice IMO. I think that now that Subaru has decided not to release the sedan version of the WRX here is OZ (apparently it will become available in the states so i've read) the Lancer will sell so much better.

Don't think i'll be changing to a smaller car any time soon, but it's nice to see there are now a few nice ones coming out.

I think Mitsubishi have a winner. I think the back needs to be seen in person, just like the mondeo rear end. Looks much better in person then pictures.

I wouldn't say that, more Mazda 6 size. Mitsubishi doesn't really have a direct competitor.

There's more pics in the Photography section from the MotorShow ... Kyle is quite a photog and took some decent shots on one of the quiet night where there was bugger all people there.
