Default A good reason to used coolant !!

Hey there ppl, listen up!! I learnt a lesson the hard way today.

Water leaking from front of motor.. hmm cant be the hoses I just replaced them. Then after closer inspection.. Yup water pump. Bugger. So Pulled the thing out.

Cracked housing. Interesting... What could have caused that? thing seems to spin freely. I threw it at the ground to see if I could break the thing in half, seems it was already cracked, and what falls out??

A bit of broken spring from the Radiator hose that had corroded and broken off, lodged in the water pump and jammed the thing, cracking the housing.

and.. new hoses? not more that 8-10 months old.. I put coolant in at the start but has a dodgy heater hose and lost it all. I was too lazy to replace it and look what Happend !!!

That's a good example!

So did the jammed pump lead to elevated running temperatures?

My drive belt fell off my EF yesterday, my feet got really hot and i didn't know why (i didn't look at the temp guage, i dont know why either).

Went out to the car this morning, making a LOUD ticking noise. Popped the bonnet found the drive belt hanging off the power steering pulley.

My guess is its a rocker..

Reckons its cactus?
