Hi,
Just wanting to get your views/recommendation/experiences on car covers. My XC spends all its time outside, exposed to the weather and I'm after a car cover to protect it. We are renting so building a carport/garage is out and I don't like the idea of one of those temp/portable carport set-ups. Thanks

hey mate check out a brand called Sunland i got one up here in fnq from aurobarn, an extra large fits my xb sedan spot on. around $130.
they are supposed to be waterproof from the outside but have a breathable middle layer to allow trapped moisture to escape...? anyway they have a nice soft non scatch inner lining and a zip to allow access to the drivers door whilst fitted. mine is used on a clean dry car stored inside, but still might be worth looking at. cheers Pat. |

I don't use one myself, but from what i have been told, its not ideal to put them on/off daily, as they should only be put on a clean car.

Its easier to claybar / polish it every 6 months then fit these things, they only scratch the paint in the wind and leave rub marks.
Good for short term use, not good for long term.

Yeah, its more to keep it as dry as possible at this stage. Its a pretty rust free country car and I'd like it to stay that way until we move to a bigger place with a garage.

If your getting a respray then by all means get one. I've been using one on my xr6 now a once mint car now has scratches on both mirrors and the front bar and a little bit on the rear: for me it's easier to wash it every weekend, but for you I'm not sure it's up to you.

I have the same Sunland one patxbcoupe mentioned. I'm very happy with it, it gets used frequently and hasn't left a mark. The important thing is to never put them on a dirty/dusty car.
