fuel pickup is at the bottom of the tank...
fuel floats ontop of water...

full fill = XYZ height of water = surging ???

coz if the not quite full mark you may have the water level below the fuel level where the pickup is etc etc..

just a thought anyway

i've heard something about over filling makes the car run a bit wierd...

i'm sure it in a thread somewhere in here... do a search.. you might come accross it...

filling it right up to the neck is not a good thing.. something to do with breathing i think??....

Don't waste your money, search on "charcoal" or "canister" to find the thread Eugenixx mentioned... to do with overfilling. Most likely your O2 sensor is buggered so the ECU can't compensate for the excess of fuel.

You get the same symptoms with a dead TMAP too.

Is the car like that all the time or only for 20-30km or so after you fill up?

the carbon canister is under the bonnet near the battery black plastic cylinder,
it is designed to capture fuel vapour from the tank and fed to the intake to be burnt.
if flooded this will hold approx 1 litre of fuel, this may last several day depending on k's driven (replacement is not nessesary)
fuel regulator: pull vacuum hose and smell for fuel (if present ruptured diaphram possable)
test after 20 minutes after shutdown

Youre right. It ticks me off too.The problem is that when you overfill the tank that the return fuel line cant return as much fuel from the regulator to the tank.It causes the fuel pressure to fluctuate
