About a month ago I recieved a letter from Ford stating that my new BF Mk2 XR6T that I purchased new from a dealer in July is no longer eligible for the 3 year roadside assistance but it has now been reduced to 12 months. In the letter it stated that it was widely publicised in the brochure and the Ford website and also should have been stated by the dealer. The brochure that I recieved prior to my purchased states 3 years, the dealer mentioned the 3 year warranty and road side assist and I surfed the Ford website various times deciding on colour and options without seeing anything obvious about this. This may seem to some just a winge but to me it seems just another thing that Ford is trying to shortcut on. I am going to write a letter to Ford, also stating that if they dont wish to continue with this then I might as well cancel the extended warranty I purchased. What are other peoples opinions or comments? :

you bought a 3 year exteneded warranty, the dealer gave you a 3 year extended warranty.
your entitled to what you bought. demand y9our dealer provide the warranty they offered. im sure if you look over your contract, the 3 year warranty is there in writting. they cant deny you what they are contracted to do. |

He's talking about the 3 years road side assistance, not the warranty.
I would agree if the dealer told u that it was 3 years road side assistance then that makes part of your contract. Write to Ford saying that the dealer used the road side assistance as a selling point and never mentioned it would no longer be available/reduced. An agent (Dealer) selling for a parent company (Ford) is part of the contractual agreement, the salesman verbally stating the roadside is part of the deal becomes part of the contract!

I think if you say something to Ford you will probably retain your 3 years road side assistance (not that you'll need it ), most people would not know/care and therefore not say anything. Ford can then pull the wool over their eyes.
Yes Ford, like almost every other business will try pull a switfy on you! |

I got the same rip=off I said buying a Ghia it should be part of the Ghia purchase as an incentive from lesser FORDS. Ford Customer Service(oxymoron) weren't interested.
Would Tom listen ???????????????????

I used "Ford Roadside Assist" a few times for my F6. It's a crock of sh**.
All Ford does is ring RACQ for you. I've found it faster and less complicated to phone RACQ direct. So I wouldn't stress about Ford cutting off a couple of years as the whole program is a waste of time. |

Send a reply stating your position above (i.e you were sold the car with the 3yr service). Failing that send them an invoice for 2yrs membership to RAA/RACV/RACQ etc.

If it was so "widely publicised" why would they bother sending you a letter to inform you?

You ring Ford and they get onto the NRMA in my case. A waste of time anyway as most of them wouldn't have a clue how to fix a modern car. The way Ford treat the customers with their so called after sales service and the way the dealers treat you as well. my current car will probably be the last ford I buy, unless there are some changes in the customer treatment(I can't see that happening) |
