Question Failing a Pink slip

Hi Guys,
Fancy popping my cherry on this :

Took my car for a Pink slip inspection today and the bloke tells
me that both my light's are discoloured and need replacing. :
What a crock of ......
I've had the car for near on, 7 years, and they are
the same 2day as they were back then and not a worry.

Anyways, Question is, after getting a White Slip, do you have to
go back to the same place to get a Pink Slip or can I go to
another fellow down the road 2morrow without spending a heap
fixing something that don't need fixing : ,
and get a Pinky from him ?

Cheers Guys, Q.

In NSW you can go elswhere.. But keep in mind the RTA may come around and check...
Aftermarket lights or second hand are not that expensive...
We had similar issue with lowered Charade. They said lights where too low!!!
Took to another guy and he said B.S he measured them wrong!!!
So another $50 bucks for blue slip and we where on our way...
Some bosses are on hollidays and some people are on power trips while their boss is away....

if he has given you a white slip and it is marked failed first inspection you have 14 days to get the car back to him for re inspection. If you dont return in that time he then forwards copies of that slip onto the rta. Then when the rta get around to seeing your slip from him and the slip that passed from somebody else, they go and ask to see the books from the guy that passed you then they come and see you. This all depends on if he is still using the old 3 copy inspection book,if the slip he gave you is an online one then the rta already have his rejection copy, decide wisely grasshopper

Well that sucks.. as long as he said nothing else needed doing , then do the lights..

I had a guy tell me my ignition key was too worn. I said ok , then get one cut for me.

$25 to get a key cut.. and I had been going to this guy for a couple of years for differnt things, I never went back.

How to lose a customer in one easy lesson.

Yours MIGHT be OK, but if it got knocked back I suspect its not. They might be the same as they were 7 years ago, but were they OK then?

What type of car is it? Which light lenses were faded, brake or blinker?

I see many cars on the road that have lights faded so badly you don't know what they are signalling, turning or slowing, when they come on.

If there is nothing wrong with the lights, take it elsewhere. The new mech will be able to defend against the RTA if there is no problem and a quick check of your lights by the RTA will confirm no problem. The RTA will know the other mech is a tool, maybe he will lose his right to do RWC which is fair if he is a tool.

If they do appear discoloured at all, fix the lights and dont get some other mech in the crap for trying to do you a favour. Just go to him next time in the first place and cop this one on the chin.

Post a pic of the lights.

If they look a little yellow from the front, fix the lights and dont get some other mech in the crap for trying to do you a favour.
You are assuming they are headlights, but he didn't say that.

I am guessing tail lights or blinkers, but could be wrong

You must have edited my post. I see no reference in my post to headlights. :

In my head for some reason I imagined a EF or EL with the yellowed plastic headlights.

they knock polycarbonate lenses that have faded all the time, its more than likely that.

hit them with some cut and polish, they'll clear up, then go back and get your slip
