Question Aircon fan

Hi can some one help
The other week my aircon fan in my AU Fairmont (digital control 1 thru to "H")
stayed on even with the key removed so I touch tuned it down to low speed and in the morning the battery was flat so went to the fuse box under the bonnet next to the battery and found the right terminal and disconnected it I think it was the third from the front
so far so good I then found a terminal that worked with the ign and acc possition and hooked up the aircon fan wire
so far so good again every thing worked according to plan
a few days later the aircon fan stopped it would not work on 1 thru to 9 but on "H" it works fine just a bit too fast for comfort though
any ideas of where to look next
Thanks JOHN

Do a search, you need to pull out the glove box and replace a resistor I think in the silver box that sticks out of the heater box.

Fan speed controller has died. If it's like the pre AU models it sits under the glove box with one side of its case in the air con/heater intake ducting so the T0-3 transistor sitting on the heat sink casing on that side get a cooling flow of air. Trouble is all the moisture and leaves that fall into the duct rest again the T0-3 casing and corrodes it so it fails and you get the symptoms mentioned. You can get a new transistor from Worldwide Electronics http://members.iinet.net.au/~worcom/ Again if its the same as the previous models it will be a Motorola 2N5686 transistor that will cost about $15 versus a couple of hundred for a whole new fan speed controller.

Climate control does not have a resistor pack it is computer controlled.
