Any panel beater can do it but to get it done properly be prepared to pay a decent job will set you back around the 400 to 600 mark which should leave it looking pretty good.

Yeah sounds about right.

I live in Victoria, same problem cost me $550. I went to my mechanic who recommended a panel beater he has used before who has experience in this area. Very happy with the job.

Also, I did have water leaking into the car. When driving I would get water dropping on my right ankle. I took it to my panel beater who found that 3 out of the 4 spot welds had cracked. This occurs where the pedal box attaches to the plenum chamber. I had this repaired under warranty. The Ford Dealer had never seen this before. I said it is a common problem. No dramas, the clutch is as smooth as. Good Luck

I had a cracked firewall and was quoted about $500. not wanting to pay this amount, I set about fixing it my self, the repair I'm about to tell you was done about 1 month ago and is still holding strong with no evidence of movement or cracking. Remember this is how I fixed it, it may not be the best, but is working and cost $15...so here goes.
1st..remove clutch cable from pedal and pull cable back into the engine bay out of the way.
2nd..using long socket extension bar or similar gently tap from the inside of car the broken edge of the firewall until it is back level with the rest of the firewall.
3rd...using 2 part stronger than metal epoxy, apply to both inside and outside of firewall and allow to harden...and don't skimp on it.
4th...I used the metal holdy down thingy for the spare wheel ...(the bit that actually pushes down on the wheel...I used 1 from an EB..only because I had 1) as a brace so the firewall doesn't push back in. You have to drill the hole a bit bigger so the clutch cable fits.I also painted it black so you can't see it easy.
5th...fit brace over threaded clutch cable and insert back through firewall. The brace has just the right amount of natural bend to be off the firewall and clear the sticky out knobby bit the cable goes through, dont drill the hole to big or the brace will go over the sticky out knobby and it wont be a brace any more.remember...the brace is now replacing the knobby bit as the tension point...the knobby bit is now only a guide so the cable stays straight.
6th...put clutch cable back onto the pedal, adjust nut on clutch cable (against the brace)until you have correct pedal and take for a test drive.
7th...go to the pub, get some beer and enjoy knowing you have saved $500 so deserve that icy cold beer...every one happy except for the panel beaters.

excuse my high tech naming of various parts..eg sticky out knobby bit..as I have no idea what they are actually called. As I said before, this may not be the best fix, but it worked for me.

if you know someone who can weld (mig is best) then do the job your self . I did one recently in a couple of hours with stripping and welding 1mm stainless plate onto the f/w...
dril lots of small holes and weld each like a small spot weld.. it will NEVER break again just remember to make it large as you can to spread the load//

Because yours is a V8 and there is less room to work in the engine bay, these other guys have 6cyls, more room there to work from engine bay.

Give Joe @ Crescent Motors Liverpool a call.

Mark from ITS Performance did part of mine and Joe had a look at the rest.

Joe has just done a few of these in both AU and E-series vehicles in recent weeks .... the V8s have less rom as stated. At least t's easier to fix and A firewall compared to an EF/EL ... they can be a right pain.

Dont worry mate i paid well over 1000 for mine to get fixed. Thats what happens when ford fixes it. But it wont pull through again got 3mm plates either side bolted and welded.

I still have to either paint the fire protection or recover, but this is how it ended.
