LOL! Fair enough.

Has he tried the phone charger in another car to check it's actually working?

That will let him know it's the lighter outlet for sure.

Start by checking fuse, and then work back to wiring.

Ive got the same prob in my monty. That being said, the dash isnt the usual monty dash, so the plug has been relocated to the R hand side of the radio, sort of into the drivers foot well (well next to my L knee), by the factory. See aufalcon.com/only1 for pics...

Anyway, back to the point, the wires are all intact, fuse is good etc. Just wasn't getting any current. Had me stumped.

I ended up going to my local auto shop, and buying a new lighter (the female bit), in-line fuse and some wire. Hard wired it to the battery, through the firewall (where the clutch should go), ran the wire behind the radio, and put the lighter bit in the glove box.

Works a treat. You only have to remember to unplug whatever you have plugged in so as not to drain the battery, but it should be easy enough to run it through the ignition.

they have (i think two) diodes on the back which can fail and stop it from working. thats what happened to mine. i replaced it with a "power supply outlet" as they are known these days. was just a straight replacement without any stuffinga round with the wiring etc.
