Coming home from a family outing today,20 minutes from home my auto started to become erratic for no reason and locked itself into 3rd gear in drive, then the speedo stopped working and the engine started to rev. I pulled over and turned the engine off, waited 5 minutes but the problem is still there. Any ideas before I take it into an auto transmission place. The car has done 90000 kms.

sounds like you have lost speedo drive gears, auto goes into limp home mode when you loose speedo pulse.
Cheers Mick. |

I had a similar problem. All outer pieces of the trans were replaced, inducer, speedo etc. and still happened. they sourced the problem to faulty cluster so I got a second hand one and now its all sweet. Its been at least 6 months now and its all working good.
