last night on top gear they flogged the guts out of the new VE
The 6.0 litre model which ever that one is they gave the car a good rap and seriously made me think could i get my Au ute to power slide like that that made me sad but they made sure they didnt give holden any credit, instead of holden badges on the car they made sure they slaped on holdens Dad vauxel(not sure on the spelling on that one) they did say the car was develped in Australia though

they would hardly sell it as a holden in the UK. nobody would know who it belonged to. be like selling vauxhalls in australia, only the older folk would know of vauxhalls from the `60s.
i thought they gave it a pretty good rap .

VXR is the performance branding for Vauxhall's go-fast group.
Much like HSV is to Holden. Ask your local HSV dealership about the upcoming Holden VXR, you'll be surprised to see it only has two doors. |

Don't know about "happy & sad"?? I thought Clarkson gave our homegrown a pretty good rap?.. Even compared it to a Beema, didn't he? "not as refined, but pure brute"
Was an outstanding episode!... Hammond in the F1 was mindblowing.

The most impressive thing about the episode was Lewis Hamilton in the reasonably priced car!! I thought Mark Webber was great when he drove it in the wet, but Lewis was awesome. I have never been a fan of him but that is starting to change.

It was a good watch, pretty funny that the diff leaked oil all over the track though.
Lewis Hamilton in the reasonably priced car was amazing. .3 of a second behind the Stig (who posted his time in the dry) on a wet and oil covered track. That man can DRIVE!!!!

Vauxhal/Holden/Opel are all the same brand (historically, at least), they share most of the models like Astra, Vectra and Barina (under a diferent name in Europe) Commodore is developed in OZ and this is it's main market but you can buy them in UK.
Ozzy Top Gear has huge boots to fill. And a F6 vs. R8 battle is a must.

I would love to see them try out a new F6, you would have to expect some negtivity from Clarkson as he cant help bagging anything Aussie but deep down you know he would love it. |

After watching that episode i can confidently say i think i know how to drive an F1 car...
Close your eyes, foot flat to floor and when approaching corner keep foot down....

Goes to show just how hard these things would be to drive.
I was amazed when they said the F1 motors are that tight they are seized when cold, they need to circulate hot water around them before starting, and intravenously feed in warmed engine oil so it will turn over! |

Too bad they didn't show the Stig's lap in the VXR8, complete with Clarkson's fake Aussie commentary!

Love the 'vauxel'.
But if we're talking Top Gear. Current UK Top Gear, not SBS Top Gear. That GTR, holy poop on a stick. That thing took the last two corners with insane speed. I'd love to see that thing lined up next to a W427. I'm sure it would be embarrasing. Roughly same price, I'd suspect. |
