Default Shocks and Springs...

Where is a good place to get some decent shocks/springs from an how much do you reckon i would be looking at?

I found a place that can do selby coils and ultima shocks for all 4 corners for around $400, not including fitting.

Is that good? How much would i be looking at for fitting?

Apparently Selby and king springs are essentially the same thing? Selby are manufactured under licence by king springs or something?

If there are enough people interested, i will see if i can get the price down. At the moment it is $430 for standard/low/superlow selby springs and corresponding ultima shocks

As far as i am aware, Ultima make standard and the short-bodied struts and it will be your choice which one you want

the only difference in price is for the IRS rear (obviously) shocks.

It is through this mob on ebay

http://stores.ebay.com.au/DRIVELINE-...QQftidZ2QQtZkm

I mean, entire setup, shocks and springs for $436 is pretty damn good!

It says the front shocks suit standard, lowered or superlow. But only has one part #, so i assuming that it is the samae shock for all applications.

The rear Live Axle have different part #'s for the standard or lowered, looks like IRS rear is only available in standard

Talked to them about the possibilities of a discount for a high volume order and was told that they are basically clearing their coil springs stock, so they will only be that price while the stocks last and there is no chance of more discount. Which is fair enough i reckon!

I think i will purchase some tonight. So i would advise to get in quick

I had Ultima shocks in my previous car. AU Forte, on Kings superlows with Ultima shocks to suit. Ride was firm, but not harsh, like the stock ride quality really.

There are a couple of pics with a white XR6 and a white Forte. Mine was the Forte with Kings SL and Ultima shocks to suit.

I have kings SSL with ultima shocks, ultima shocks come in standard, 1.5" low or 2" low ride is reasonably harsh with big wheels on it, but handling is really good, there's always tradeoffs between height and ride quality, real low, real harsh (less travel distance with shock and spring), I have 19's on my car and going to raise the car to super low height I think it is reasonably close to tickford factory XR height to get good clearance and touch softer ride.

Mate, that XR was on chopped SSL's with stock shocks, how do you reckon the ride was? And thats about how low my XR6 is, but its on Monroe shocks. Ride is disgraceful. Handling is not much chop either.

No trouble. Thats on 17" wheels. At that height they sit in the guards quite well. Tyres were nearly into the guards. And the car sits completely level. Unlike my SSL's.

top stuff mate. Did you have lpg on the forte?

I ask coz my car has so I may have to look at a possibility of getting just lows for the rear to make it all level.

Thoughts?

That is a pretty good price guys....
But I'll stick to the tried and true Koni's.
It is worth adding that if you are going
to lower the car spend a little extra on a
heavy duty front sway bar as it really makes
a massive difference in the handling of the car.

yeah thats what Im thinking of doing also 99GHIA. Is there a brand & size you recommend?

Im thinking of a 27mm front sway from whiteline. I'll go larger if there if it make the car handle better.
