escort brake pads

all,

i'm looking at upgrading the front brake setup on my mk2 esky. it's not a race car or anything so i'm not going to go overboard here. but here's my proposed setup:

dba ventilated and possibly slotted rotors
existing hubs
existing calipers
braided lines

now, regarding brake pads. i'm thinking of going for either bendix ultimates or ebc green stuff. both manufacture pads for the oem escort calipers. so i was curious what people's experiences and opinions are of these aforementioned brands. perhaps you can suggest another brand?

I run EBC Greens on the front of mine with vented/slotted rotors and braided lines. I've found the EBC to be great once you have some heat in them, nothing special when theyre cold. I do the occassional track day, and I've not had any fade after giving them alot of grief.

My mate just tried the Bendix and hates them, but I've not tried them myself so can't say either way my thoughts on them. I'll be sticking with the greens.

I use my Esky as a daily driver and occasionally take it into the Adelaide Hills for a bit of fun. Would you recommend EBC Greens. When you say theyre nothing special when cold, are they still acceptable when cold for daily driving. Cheers!

I drive mine on street also, but not daily. Greens will be fine, they just don't have huge biite until they've got heat in them.
What sort of Escort have you got? What part of Adelaide?

I'm down South, theres a few of us Escort owners down here.

I have a MKII 1978 4dr 2L. Badges say its a GL but the guy that sold it to me said its a Rally Pack. I dont really know how to check for sure. It has rally pack front and rear spoilers.

I live south too, Daw Pk to be precise. Well at the moment Im in London until Feb. There are parts galore here, its fantastic. Im sending home a box full of goodies.

Rally Packs were an optioned up GL, does it have spot lights with factory wiring in loom and switch for them?

The spotties have been removed at some point however the wiring for them is still there. If I remember correctly, the switch for it is located beside the hazard light switch, next to the cigarette lighter and ash tray. Whether its original wiring, well I'll have to check once I get home.

Did the Rally Packs come with any mechanical extras or just cosmetic?

Yeh it was all cosmetic really, i think RS2000's and Rally packs got a few suspension revisions to make them sportier. But hey I'd still prefer one over an RS2000...I've had both and wish I still had my 2dr Rally Pack.

yeah its just like mine it dont have the spot light any more but everything is there plus it has rear a swaybar and fat as front anyroll bar but mines a ghia insted did ghias have rally packs
