Default Returning a kindness to the world in tragedy..

Its nearly been 3 years since I was in Westmead close to death from heart problems.. The thanks in my heart for those who saved me my family and well wishes have been an injection of faith tome in humankind. How can I repay it? Why am I alive and what is the true purpose of existing in this life..? I looked long and hard at this question and the one answer that kept coming in my head was to be the biggest champoin in my life and give benefit to others of their association with me...I love people and treat them in that way..

The death of Craig here has left me with a heavy heart these past few days and I want the family to know that I too carry the burden of pain in my heart..

Yesterday as I was cruising down Henry Lawson Drive I saw4 wd mercedes ml320 veer off the road and into a tree...

Smoke billowed from the engine bay and cabin..I pulled straight over ran across speeding cars to the merc. In the back were 2 children which were hysterical..I pulled them from the car where I ordered them away to a safe distance as it looked like the car was going become a fireball..
In the drivers seat was laying a woman not able to move...She was big maybe 100kgs..The smoke got thicker and I felt that there was no time to waste..I undid her belt and lifted her like she was weightless..my arms full of strength from god knows where.. I carried her some 20 metres from the smoking burning car and lay her gently on the ground using a coke bottle as a pillow.. I held her hand as she lay in severe shock and held her face with my other hand..I reassured her that the children were ok and she gave me a look that I will never forget until I die..It was a look of amazement that she saw a miracle performed by my hands or I was an angel of some sort..

I waited with her as people piled up to help...She was no longer alone and so seeing her in care I jumped in the wagon and drove off..

I left empty of emotion..I did what had to do and then seeing I was not needed I walked away... Before I left one of the spectators looked at me with amazement..

I dont know how to feel about it and prefer to leave it in my mind as karma for the wonderfull life I have and the second chance I have been given..

I am not sure why I posted here..perhaps this forum has become too much of a home to me where I can get to know wonderful people like Craig and that I feel comfortable telling my car mates what is on my mind...

Good on you Stav. Hopefully that woman will remember what you did for her and her children, and do something kind for someone else she meets in the future.

That's what I love about this forum. It's like an extended family. Even though many of us may never meet, or have only met once or twice.

well done mate. i too helped in a crash a few months back. but the guy i helped was still unconsious when the ambulance arrived.
i could not believe it when i was told stories of similar circumstances and no one stopped and helped.
you dont even think about doing it for any other reason but to try and help as another human beings life is in the balance

in this day and age it is truely only the kind harted who help with no expectation for anything in return. congratulations, if only there were more like you.

Ive stopped for a few people that have been hurt but not as bad as that car crash .
I firmly beleive that if you help others with no expectation of receiving a reward or praise people will help you

You knew what had to be done and from reading prior posts, you appear to be a level headed caring person, which you have more than proven from your actions. As well as knowing you most probably saved them from an agonising death you can feel proud and hold your head high.
Well done!

bit like PAY IT FORWARD!! there's no real reason why that concept couldn't take off.

well done stav.

too many people forget to treat others how they get treated of would like to be treated. a simple example i see most days is merging traffic due to a lane closure. i'll let in a car or two and then watch as they try to block other merging drivers even though they themselves have just been let in. a simple example but a fair indication of the types of selfish people that fill the world these days.

Stav, I'm speechless but your deeds certainly restore my own faith in humanity after some tough times, albeit nowhere near as tough as you've experienced.

Did you have to stay for Police/Ambulance to make a statement?

Thanks guys. Zetec..I did not wait for the police or ambulance.By the time I left there were literally around 50 other people on the scene but I was the first. There was a lovelly couple who seemed to know first aid pretty well and they then took over.I just gave my card to the injured womans son and told him that if they neeeded anything to just give me a call.

GTFPV..thanks man. When I was a kid I was fortunate to come across a book called secret fighting arts of the world. It documented the abiltiy of people in situations like this to gain superhuman strength in times of danger.I think I experienced this power at that moment..I am glad you posted as our meeting of minds in your post and everybodies has given me even more hope and mental strength.thanx.

My grandad used to say to me ..heaven and hell are here grandson. We can make heaven or hell here...He was right..

Its amazing to hear stories of heroism like this Stav. In my opinion you dont ow anyone anything. Im not sure of what operation you had sorry and im not trying to pry into your personal life.

You got a second chance at life for a reason, maybe that was to help the family the other day, or maybe just because you deserve it. From the posts I have read from you, you dont seem like a bad person in any way. Always happy, fun and full of life. You treat people as you wish to be treated and always respect others.

This could be why you got your second chance. Not to proove yourself, as you may have already done this.

Its great too hear stories like this. That there still are every day heros out there! I hope the family recovers from any injuries and they too leran a lesson from that day. Maybe one day do the same to another as you have done for them.

The time taken between the accident and the moment Stav pulled over to help, was 0.000s.

Stav, I'm not surprised with what you've done. It is your character. And thanks for sharing this experience with us.
