Using my psychic abilities, I'd say he's trying to question why the same part has three different prices in three different locations?

1. Same reason that Woolies and Coles supermarkets charge different prices for their food.

2. Ford DOESN'T own every Ford dealer in Australia and there is no such thing as retail price maintenance.

Try the site sponsors - either SSF or FTG; I've found both cheaper for genuine parts than my local dealer (stealer).... and that includes delivery.

Did the size of the spare parts departments give you any clue?

Do you think a small dealership is going to buy as much as a larger dealership and get as much of a discount?

Not true! He started with a capital letter and there was a comma after the Hi!

It all went downhill from there though.

In any case, we got what he meant. LOL!

by the towns that he mentioned , the cheapest price was at a very small country town while the dearer quotes were at large dealerships in 2 of qld`s largest regional citys. kind of blows the quantity discount idea.

Yes plenty thankyou.
Like someone above posted, the larger and less rural dealerships would receive a better price for parts, therefore making the part cheaper for customers. Out in the middle of nowhere, the parts wouldn't be in very high demand, so your going to pay more. Always check out fordforums sponsors, as they do discounts for members don't they?

I guess working at a Ford dealership in spare parts makes me not know what I am talking about.

Play the dealerships off against one another. They hate it. Tell them you can get it at the dealership down the road for cheaper. It doesnt have to be true. But it works.

My local dealer who I no longer use if you get a quote for a repair never accept the first price, the price will come down if you have a rant, infact one of the tradesmen there advised me of this feature in ford service if you agree on the 1st quote they are laughing tell them you will take it somewhere else and all of a sudden it becomes cheaper. : I run my own business and if we give you a quote it's our best price if you can get the job done cheaper go for it.

Easy fix is, 'Don't buy genuine new parts! If you need genuine, hunt around for decent used bits... Or use a trade account!!' :

The trouble in smaller towns is there is no alternative for a lot of parts
Certainly no alternative dealer for 100's of km

Ebay may be Ok if you want to wait a week

Best bet is get a friend who does get a discount to get them

Is that how much a cup holder lid really is??? : : :

That's bloody ridiculous. It would probably only cost $5 to make.

I need one because the little tab that keeps the lid down has snapped. But for that price the lid can stay open.

i rang a few places for lash adjuster prices last week for my Au xr6..........they ranged from $62.50 each Ford spares to $15.00 after market, i would imagine the factory ones are much better qaulity but thats a big price difference, the most expensive after market was $24 ish each.

Lol. Genuine part prices huh? Get this then: 17x7.5 inch steel wheel rim (unpainted) for Territory (spare) - it looks just like a chaser rim but it's 17 inch.

I was quoted $450 a rim (no tyre) from one dealer and $485 from another.

Work that one out.
