Well, I've had 3 AU XRs, 2 of them XR8s. All good cars.

Still miss mine but the FG is a far superior car (as you would expect). However the raw "fun" factor of the AU XR's is something you wont find in any other model.

They are a tough looking car. I would have liked to have found one for the right money at the time I was in the market. But yes, very nice indeed.

i love the look of them, when my gf has been driving my car and ive been in her car. they look mean coming up behind.
as for go factor they go ok, they arnt the quickest thing out there, but they have enough power to keep me happy. ive been driving mine for 80,000km's now, my car is currently sitting on 165,000 and the only problem i have had is my gearbox went. but that was all my fault due to way i was treating it. at the moment my suspension is gone, but that is getting fixed on my first week of holidays in a couple of weeks. but that was expected as it i the factory shocks still lol.

Awesome. thats what i reckon lol. I've only done reasonably mild mods to mine, and I smash stockish BA-BF XR8's all the time. Geez they dont like that lol. The windsor just has so much more torque outta the hole, that the bosses top end can't scrape it back.

I suppose the power to weight ratio is a massive factor in that too. If you work it out, even though the boss has 40kw's more power, its nearly all taken back by the extra weight. Then the lack of torque down low, and the windosr is the winner lol

Hmmm yeh, i just been a bit down lately.. Some people been bagging AU XR8s saying BA'6s are better and faster... But i mean even a FG xr6 isnt as quick as as a 220kw right?
I love the look of AU's especially Series 2 and 3's.... Anyone know the average 0-100 in a auto 220kw XR8? |

Unlike the Bseries XR's the AU XR's (as well as those from the E series) were more unique and less common when compared to their equivalent base model. A nice car

A mate of mines A4 AU XR8 has gone Bolt on for Bolt on with my BA XR8 (5 Speed manual) and they are lineball untill mid 3rd gear then the top end of the boss just pulls away.
Although if i got traction off the line the BA might have a bit more on it, the AU XR definitly had the better weight distribution and factory handling package though. All in all the AU XR8's are Great cars & Utes, but i prefer my B-Series. |

I had an AU XR6 and loved it, i do miss it still as it was a tad more nimble then my V8 due to being a little lighter over the front. They are much less common then the B Series XR's going around.

BTW, I agree with you about the nimbleness of the sixes, I noticed the extra weight over my old six banger.

They are a great car in bothe 6s and 8s. I had one of each and loved them both. Love the look as they are tough and original. Its a pitty the new falcon is so similar to the old ba. There is not alot of difference between them both. At least the au xrs were different and unique. |

Looks are either hate it or like it. Some people tell me that my car is really ugly but then some really like it even some Holden fans. IMO the AU XRs and Tseries are the last muscle car type Falcon. They still have a bit of roughness about them. |
