Default barter system

Is anyone interested in starting up a barter system in this tough economic crisis?

Ill start...

I work for an airline company and MAY be able to offer assistance and flights all over australia

What can you do?

I dont know if this breaks any code of conduct but if it does just remove the thread, i just wanted to start a service that involves local communitys bracing together to overcome this climate rollercoaster ride.

What do you think?

I will trade: precious, life giving air, for any 2009 model, non-life giving falcon. Bits of plastic and metal, or the chance of unlimited air...what would you choose?

Bartercard is a rip, just about everywhere you go theres atleast a 50% markup on Barter, and thats if they are accepting it at that particular time (no not this week, we have too much barter this month. etc)

Ive always wondered what is stopping the Bartercard employees/managers just inventing more Barter $$ in their account? Unlike the banks who have Government regulations, there is no such thing on 'Barter'

instead of that 36,000, what about this tasty doorstop? Mmmm..you could be eating it right now!
In all seriousness, barter works on a personal level. Between mates etc. Not much good elsewhere.

Guys,

We live in a capitalist society and have enjoyed its benefits. We as petrol heads have to acknowledge that Australia is one of the last few countries where we can enjoy motoring (big engined turbo straight 6's and V8s) at relatively affordable prices.
Sadly as with anything we have to ride it when times are low. as a Martin mention I have to say there is no such thing as true Barter.

Instead of barter how bout pooling (economic of scale) to get things cheaper for us like minded people.

Say if 3 people all got together and wanted to buy new XR8s. These 3 persons go to 1 dealer and they stick to each other in that all 3 must get the car otherwise deal is off for all 3 persons, I would say watch the dealer literally do deals. $125k worth of business simply because 3 people are working together... Thoughts...

Or you could just use a car broker like Aspire for $200 and get fleet prices (as they buy quite more than a few cars each year)

Dunno about barter but I`m willing to help out with services.

If you have an idea/product that you want developed/imported then I can help with that.

I can give any swimming pool chemical/product advice that is guaranteed to be unbiased (my business supplies trade only)

Cheers

They wouldn't necessarily get them any cheaper than 3 good Deals separately. One could get a sharp deal and then the other two could simply tell other Dealers they had to do the same price.

Drop the "F" word and people get excited. What I suspect is happening is people hear "fleet", think the deal's good and suddenly they're happy.

No company ever frivolously gives out fleet or trade pricing or whatever it might be, unless they adhere to certain guidelines such as annual purchases or some form of loyalty committment. Most auto manufacturers require the car be sold/registered/delivered in the fleet's name etc etc. I wouldn't think a Broker would buy the cars in their name on behalf of a customer, so ultimately they aren't getting true fleet pricing... they're just getting a very sharp retail price that's probably not even related to a true fleet price.
