Default GTHO revealed!!??

Was just in the newsagents and spotted the cover of the latest Wheels magazine with GTHO blazing across the cover claiming they got the scoop. Anyone know anything about it? I didn't buy the mag but it had a pic of the front end of an FG with 351 on the bulge, I'm assuming that'll be the KW rating.

Dont know about Scoop.

But the Supercharged Coyote, seems to be the most likely candidate for a HO. Just dont expect see it until late next year.

Lets be fair about this, the original HO looked just like a regular GT and all the changes were under the skin so if they are going to be true to the ancestry of the HO then you'd expect it to be the same on the outside but beefed up on the inside and stripped of all the luxo crap if they're serious. Unfortunately, if there is "only" 351kw under the bonnet and full luxo interior to weigh it down then there'll be quite a few disappointed people who'll leave their cash in their pockets me thinks. 351 sounds good for the marketing people but on the road I think 400+ with a back to basics interior would be needed to really turn it into a modern classic and future legend.

Just my opinion.

Well I think no matter what they do not everyone will be happy!

But if they do it then its going to have to be like the W427's that Holden did..........

in what way like the W427?, I agree with basic interior. a muscle car was sumthing that you had to muscle around basic car with beefed up engine etc. 351kws is a decent mark I think and leaves a lot of room to be tuned up harder. and if it was stroked to 5.8 then would leave room for twin turbo or superchargers or even higher stroke options like the old 302 clevo upto 408 etc. same with the windsor. a 351 FG GT HO naturally aspirated would be awesome I think and would love to see it happen.

Im not fussed how it looks, it can look identical to a GT,
With DIFFRENT WHEELS

As long as it has the MUMBO, is a low build Number, handles EXTREMLY well on track,

AND puts the W427 to BED.

Cheers Mick.

Does anyone have a scan of the front cover of the latest Wheels? And if it will only be 351kW and can't compete with a W427 I would be disappointed.

For interest sake, what interior differences were there between the old GT and the GT-HO?

Glovebox sticker instead of badge and choke button on dash...

Externally for XY just front and rear spoilers.

The original GTHO H3 wasn't a separate model, it was an option available on the std XY GT...

I reckon it looks tough - whether it will happen or not? Don't know. These sort of articles are like preaching to the converted.

nowhere in this article does it say anyhting that we already didn't know.

It says that Ford Aus will most likely move to the US designed Coyote V8 next year. We already knew that.

It says that Rod Barrett has previously gone on record as saying he wants to be the man to bring back the GTHO, and that he won't do it unless he can make it worthwhile. We already knew that.

The rest of the article is pure heresay. nothing more, nothing less. A complete waste of time. Although I do suppose it is better than having another Ford bashing article, or another Commodore on the cover.

4V, your right. Though my gt, I saw that and all my little consumer brain could think was 'where do i sign'. Though its a CGI mock up only. With GT badge replaced with the 'GT-HO' And the sticker change.

I dont think this article will hurt Ford sales though. Lets face it, speculation gets people into showrooms : Said people will no doubt be told either 'not gunna happen', 'not on the cards anytime soon' or 'there wont be a V8 in 2010....so you should buy one now'
