I asked this in the Cortina section and nothing happened. I no value is what your willing to accept and what someone is willing to pay, but im looking for around-about figure on the below, im tossing up whether to sell or not and have no idea what its worth (you no...honest what people would pay, not what redbook insultingly says something would be worth)
I've been contemplating selling my corty for a few months now, It has barely been driven in the past 4 years and is starting to rust away in spots. The whole car will need a tune up (obviously) and i have to replace the floor pan drivers side and drivers side boot tire well (battery in boot causing rust) Other than that, Its been a great little car, Mild worked 1600, dual 40mm webbers, 5 speed celica gear box, 3.77 open diff in car, also have a 3.77 locker and a spare (i believe its a 4.44) diff as well. Lotus front end, near new shocks, lowered and leveled, still standard rear end. Interior, gemini buckets (with head rests) in black velour, standard rear seat, (68) GT gauge cluster, taco (not working due to electronic ignition) and metric speedo. GT centre console. Exterior. Car was repainted about 8 years ago in 2pac, minor rust in tire wells, drivers spare tire well completely stuff (boot), Bonnet batch drivers side faded, a few dings in paint work but still in good order. Definately wouldnt need a full respray, would be limited too bonnet, front guard (looks like trolley damage) and rear panel (tire well again). Videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKLixXrtoc8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfVgOwve8G0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CntRBRLNyPg Pictures (don't have pictures of the damage unfortunately) Upgraded rear brakes (mark 2 escort if memory serves) up from 7 inch to 9 inch drums Interior missing centre console in favour of extinguisher Thanks guys, I no it needs some work before i sell, and honestly would prefer to keep it, but with debts climbing and income dropping, I've gotta say fair well to some things. :( Steve

My first car was a Mk2 Cortina, had so much err, fun in it, most you can't mention in a family friendly place like this forum! Only took me 3 years to drive it in to the ground and in to the back of another car, and a drain, and the beach and a few other places that did it no good at all. That little 1600 engine had a heart as big as a lion's!

I had a Mk2 Cortina as well. Bought it for a slab of beer in about '97. I think yours might be worth a bit more than that now though...

Your Corti is a great looking car, however its one of those unique cars which is hard to put a selling value on. Due to the demand of them being very small.
All I can suggest is for you to advertise it in the ''Unique cars Magazine''. Chuck a price on it which you would like to get for it. Have some patience and reduce the price a little every week until you get an offer. You could also try your local classic car club - they may provide a better idea for you.

Thanks guys, I'm no longer in any car clubs and am completely out of touch with values.....geez last time I was in the no, $35,000 would pick you up a nice XY GT.
I'll have a look around, See what people think. With luck I'll be able to hold on to the old girl. She was my first car so she's got a special place in my heart, just lacking the space in my yard, and the money in the bank. No probs guys, Its much appreciated. Steve

I know how you feel Steve.
I still got my old ED in the shed which I could sell tomorrow, but I cant due to sentimental value. Its driving me nuts! - i need the money - but I cant seem to part with that bloody car. Ild rather see it rot in the shed then let someone buy it and drive it out the drive way! : : :

Just buy a copy of Unique Cars and see what similar versions are selling for. Thats got to be the best way of estimating its value.
