Hello all this has probably been asked before but I can't find any threads. I have a fairly stock 1600 Capri a local wrecker has a '79 escort 2l in the yard, how big an undertaking is it to change over the motor it has an inlet manifold no carb (can use mine duel barrel Webber but what about engine mounts do they need to be shifted, gearbox & such things).
What I need to know is if it is worth the effort for the gains. |

Conversion is dead easy. Just change of engine mounts (2lt Cortina) and a bit of wiring. Exhaust is different so that has to be replaced. A better donar car is a TE/TF Cortina as you can use pretty much everything. Escorts have a slightly different sump and smaller starter motor.
Most of the 1600 stuff you'll have to ditch, even the carb as it is too small and not really suited to the 2lt motor. |
