Just wanted to ask about changing over ECUs. The car is a standard auto AU2.
Is it a simple matter of replacing it with another AU2 auto or will AU1-3 all work the same? I know manual and auto ECUs are different, but what about VCT, V8? Is it pretty straight forward to do ie unplug old, plug in new? Anything to look out for or that can go wrong when changing them over? Cheers. |

They are definatley different for different series. However, not exactly the same as the series changes. Ie: late series I sometimes recieved a series II ecu.
Secondly they are definately different manual vs auto. V8 vs VCT vs 6cly. If yours is an AU2 then you will definately need AU2 ECU. Series III = faster processor, series I smartlock not smartsheild and again i think is slower than the series II. Hope this helps to some degree.

Yes they do differ. I'd be pretty sure as long as you went for a series II or III low-model (forte/futura) I6 auto non-egas sedan one then you'd be right.
