Hey guys,

My mate picked up a series 2 au xr6, with sill and door damage for 500

But he has lost his keys to it,

Does the car have to be taken to ford to reprogram the new set of keys to the car or can we do it our selfs

Any info or guides would be good cheers

Ford do have key codes on file. Either Ford or a good locksmith can program the keys in but as you have none a minimum of 2 need to be programmed in. Obviously a programmer is required

as above you will need to get 2 keys made, the car is needed also to program so he either needs to get it to the dealer/locksmith or get a locksmith to come out to the car, either way you won't get much change out of $500 once you add in a tow, 2 keys @ $160 each plus labour to program etc. And if he then finds the keys after new ones are made, they won't start it anymore as old keys drop out. HTH
