Look what some punks did to my car

Got in my car yesterday around noon to take my dog to the beach (such a nice day it was) and I look to the left and I see this weird vapor on the window, then I realized it was spray paint, walked around the car and that's what I saw:


We're using this car mainly to take the dog to the places our Facon can't get to (or get out of)... besides the falcon had a tranny rebuild just last week -the tranny oil pump failed and it cost me $2,500 to have it fixed.
Two days after I got the Ford back the this happened, we're just happy the Falcon is parked in the garage.

I went to the local police shop to report it as a damage to property, I know they won't do much but at least they will have it in their records. They took couple of photos took my statement and told me there was a similar incident in my area the same night (Berwick, Vic).

Any ideas on how to get it off?
I already tried WD40- didn't help

Bugger mate. 1st try with a clay bar, 2nd with a spirit, 3rd try with agressive polish on the windows - less aggressive on the paint.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the spirit - if the claybar doesn't get it all off, give it a light polish and it will come right off.

Hopefully the buggers get caught before anybody else's car is vandalised.
Such a shame that people don't have respect for other people's property...

I had this done to me on a truck which I had painted in two pac all I did was rough the tag up with steel wool and rubbed it off with a rag soaked in brake fluid which didnt hurt the paint at all
not sure if it will work on a car though

Use petrol on a rag then was with soap it won't take the paint off or there would of been a lot of cars around with no paint under there filler caps that what we use at the council when our cars & trucks are tagged

Er... for the windows you dont need anything except a razor blade.
(Saftey razor with only one edge)

Why are people using chemicals on glass??????

Do not use steel wool on glass; as my father found, it will leave permanent scratch marks. Brass wool can be used but careful application of GP paint thinner is probably best for the glass.

little -----, thats bad luck mate, look on the bright side , they did`nt key it at least, if it was me i`d wizz it down to a painter, he`d prolly take it of for you for bugger all, its pretty sad when you have to keep your gear behind closed doors to protect it these days from scum like this.

had someone spray paint down the side of my car. i wasn't overly concerned as it was going in for a full respray shortly after anyway.

i called the spray painter that i was going to use and he said to use thinners.

it worked, took the spray paint off and left the original paint on (10 year old mazda)

Aussiblue that's interesting, on the inside on tint id agree, but Ive always used glass cleaner with steel wool inc on my Lexus on the outside to remove contaminants/fallout never had an issue scratching the glass yet.

I was going to say just simply glass cleaner and steel wool for the windows, then wash the car and polish effected area with a cut/polish or meguiars scratch x and should remove the spray paint, had a Prado at work once tagged detailer's took about 1 hour to have the car back to showroom.

hate it how others cant leave others property alone, yes its only a 2nd car but its the principal.

Agree with Jim goose, use a razor blade to take the paint off the glass.

^^ yep razor blade with a bit of window cleaner to lubricate it as you scrape it off..

ALL DONE!
Went to the car shop and a shop assistant went out with me and we tried few stuff, in the end I got some Wax and Grease Remover and a bar of clay.
Took me about an hour and there is no mark (except deep in the gaps).

Thanks everyone for being so supportive, I too hope they catch those kids before any other car get damaged.

Now I'm afraid that those punks will notice that I got it all off and will try something worse next time....

Well my father used steel wool to remove over-spray when he had the EH repainted years ago and all the windows involved had to be replaced.

You may be ablle to get away withh 000 grade steel wool but I think this is what the painter gave dad to clean the overspray on the EH. Brass or bronze wool is softer and safer.

as already suggested a razor is the single best thing to use on glass. some steel wools will damage the glass.
as long as you keep the razor nice and flat it wont scratch it.

Using Eucalyptus oil works to get the paint off glass.

I agree with the razor blade thats what we use in the building industry with the new windows,and bad painters.

heard somewhere that toothpaste works well on glass. I guess it's slightly abrasive but obviously not too harsh or we would be wearing out teeth. I've never tried it though.

We love it here,it's cheap, lots of space, quie, lots of off-leash areas for the dog and nothing like that ever happens here.

We had the rear of one of our buses tagged while sitting at traffic lights.

Driver saw them, but couldn't do much about it. Personally I would have rolled back a bit to scare them.
