Could somebody in the know please tell me if this is the correct steel replacement balancer for the AU 220 engine? 6.4" 50oz counterweighted outer ring. I hope the link works.
Thanks. -Craig http://www.rocketindustries.com.au/d...rtno=PB1084-SS |

A bit more research tells me I need the one with the inbuilt crank trigger pulley- part no. PB1463-ST.
Do the AU3 XR8 ones normally give trouble? |

Yep, they spin the outer on the rubber and vibrate, very common thing.
Powerbond make a good one for reasonable $$$, no point getting an orig one again. They have the main pulley and the crank trigger sprocket built in, so only one bolt to put on and they are 50 oz balance, im sure the part number you posted is the powerbond one. |

I get the same terrible vibration at those rpm's and the local Ford mechanics looked at the harmonic balancer and said it wasnt that. Anyone else have any ideas before i take it to somewhere else to get the balancer done?
Thanks Pete. |

I have a slight vibration at about 1200rpm and again at about 2100rpm.
Have tried to check that balancer lines up at TDC cylinder 1 but I find the ol' screwdriver down spark plug hole trick very hard, as it's hard to determine when the piston is right up the very top before it drops again. Is there any other way of checking if the balancer has spun?
