Hi all,
Should have read the manual more carefully as we discovered today, when cleaning a very dirty car that the indicator stalk has more functions than I knew about. If the key is out of the car, the indicator stalk operates the parking lamps. Push it up and the drivers side lights activate, push it down and the passengers side activate. Guess this minimises the drain on the battery - always a good thing to do in a Mondeo  Only taken 18 months to discover this nice touch  Has this continued with the MB and MC series vehicles? Cheers

My understanding is this feature is used when you park your car on a street at night.
If it is foggy or snowing etc . . . the parking lights let approaching drivers know your car is there. |

Wow I had no idea they did that. Tested it out on our 2010 MB Titanium last night...awesome! How handy for when you're parked on a dark street to make your car a little more visible. I didn't need to have the key out of the car for it to work, just for the car to be switched off...

Over three years of ownership, and never tried this.

Is a similar feature in my wife's VW Passat. I presumed it was so that you could leave the traffic side parkers on if you wanted rather than both sides

If you saw typical UK (and European) streets you'd understand why their cars have this feature... Also, in the UK at least, it's legal to park facing the wrong way so no reflectors for oncoming traffic.
